People should be penalized for leaving Onslaught early.
I am so tired of trying to play a 50-count Onslaught only to have someone leave not even 1/2 way in...
I don't know why people think it's ok to ghost out after 20 rounds and then let the rest of the people fend for themselves. We should be able to tell if a person leaves willingly or gets disconnected. Or at least Bungie should.
Those people need to be banned from playing for a set amount of time, and if they keep doing it, the time gets exponentially longer. Sort of like Comp quitting... it should be painful.
I honestly think Bungie has been taking it too easy on quitters.
We need to either have a bot play in their place or have some of the Red Jacks fight if we lose a guardian. (5 red jacks for every 1 Guardian), that get replaced as they get destroyed (one gets destroyed another takes its place in 20 seconds)

Edited by virtualshift: 5/13/2024 11:44:10 PMI’ll be honest with you, I’ve definitely left more than a few matches halfway through for a very good reason. If I see that the team honestly does not have what it takes to get to 50, why should I waste my time by staying? I do only leave after a boss fight, so at least everyone gets the rewards though. A few of the reasons I have left a match: people dying a lot, not doing the objectives, or maybe grabbing heavy ammo when I’m doing it objective so that when I come back, I have no heavy ammo to use. I have seen teams wipe more than once because of that last one. Come back and both teammates are dead and I have no heavy ammo to clean the adds up with.

You can't expect a bunch of blueberries to know your intentions, let alone you know theirs. It's the "20" round bounty that's ruining it. Why they made this bounty for 20 continuous rounds is just crazy. You honestly want people to get banned for a bounty they put in the game?

1 ReplySome people have a life and do other stuff than playing destiny all day long . Not everyone is a streamer man . What if someone is at your door ? What if you get a call ? What if your girlfriend needs you ? What if your dog is stuck and he is crying or the same thing with your kid ? Life happens , you cannot pause life . You can pause a video game or simply leave of you cannot pause it and continue later . It is like playing an OG zombies map , you are in wave 40 and your teammates wanna leave cause they have stuff to do and you are crying about your teammates not staying like you ? So if it really bothers you that much then go find a team that wants to go to wave 50 aswell . Communicate ?? Type something ?? Ask if they can understand you .. Just try something man .

The answer isn't punishing leavers. It's back-fill priority. I don't know anyone that is going to be upset loading into an onslaught that's already at like wave 30. Plus if we're talking about regular Onslaught, it's really not that serious and easy enough.

This is a gnarly take. I don’t think people should be penalized if life happens and they have to leave a 45min + gaming activity. The game should just match make a replacement faster to fill the spot. I can tell you, I’d take starting an Onslaught on wave 30 over fresh.

4 RepliesI agree with you. The only counterpoint is it’s an hour to get to level 50. Sometimes life happens and people have to disconnect from the game. Between pantheon and onslaught, it’s an hour minimum for each activity.

There’s so many discord groups. There’s also fireteam chat. There’s also legacy fireteam finder app. It’s not an issue. You just have to make sure u playing with people who wud complete 50 waves. Before investing an hour for 50 waves why don’t you invest 5 minutes to get a good fireteam so that u don’t have to wipe and start over.

Its just down to efficiency at farming. Its more efficient to play the first 10 or 20 rounds than to do all 50

There's just a balance that has to be struck in terms of "punishing" the average players of this game that aren't used to facing any kind of consequences really for anything. It could make the overall population drop and a lot of the people doing that kind of thing are always the ones everyone is worried about pissing off for some odd reason. Many of them would be beyond taken aback.

The short version is 10 waves. Leaving after wave 20 is no big deal, leaving after wave 40 is way more of a problem. It is easy to see who is gonna make 50 and who will fail between wave 34-49. People have left my fireteam from wave 20-40 plenty of times, it’s no big deal. If I am gonna leave, I usually try to spawn in and spend all my scrap. I think it’s fine, fix people getting booted before a chest first. Just my opinion, but even if it happens to only a few people, I would like that oversight rectified before anything else….like purchasing an entire new season.
