Commendations shouldn’t be part of the rank journey

Commendations was a huge fail and a loss of QoL in the game. It's just impossible now to actually stay in a playlist for a while unless you want to sit and stare at your screen while a timer counts down, then another timer counts down, then you finally hit orbit and start all over with mm. Used to be if you were playing solo you could stick with two others if you had similar or complementary play styles through several strikes or matches.

Guardian rank is a sad attempt at showing a knowledgable player. Seen some great level 5 players and garbage level 11. Still I give them out every time I can. Typically that starts others giving them out. Since menu times out quick I never evaluate whom I give it to.

Wouldn't it be fun if we could all walk around in real life with numbers on our heads? Lol If I see a woman with a "2", I'm staying away! Ridiculous, right? I know nothing about her personally! Same with this commendation mess. Just unnecessary.

2 RepliesAny trophy, title, bounty or whatever, in any game, should be able to be [i]earned [/i]by players. You shouldn't have to rely on strangers you are matched with, probably only once, to say if you were thoughtful or fun or best dressed, just to get an achievement. Another unwanted and ridiculous waste of resources that no one asked for.

Commendations and Guardian ranks are meaningless and no one cares about them because they’re meaningless. I can’t imagine they’ll get any love or the system be carried over to the next game because the community treats it as irrelevant.

I wouldn't say it's gatekeeping. Most people just don't care for it. I hit 11 once in the first season last year and never bothered to do the ranks ever again. They have no purpose

1 ReplyCommendations in general are pointless. If all you have is positive ones then I have no clue if the person I’m matched with has a tendency to go afk or leave early. THATS what I wanna know. Locking the higher ranks behind specific colors is also just a kick in the nads. Oh you can solo a dungeon? That’s nice but how many blue/green commendations do you have?

7 RepliesSometimes it loads with 6 seconds to give out 2 commendations or even 6 commendations, sometimes I can’t even give out commendations because it fails to load I even try as the activity ends to no prevail it’s just so buggy

I prefer not getting any than carrying a team, have the most kills, less deaths and receive a best dressed and joy bringer commendation.

While I agree, it's hardly about gatekeeping for the most part, I'm sure. It's that most simply dont care about it anymore.

9 RepliesHi Bungie, I have to agree. Players motives are self centred - this is because of the objectives and Bounties that they have to fulfill. IE : YOU have created an anti-social environment based on FOMO. Sorry guys, dog eat dog is the message sent out from Bungie. I much prefer to play solo as speedrunners, AFK -blam!-, and exploit cheese happy MOFOs have ruined the "community experience". And I am supposed to give Commendations for "great teamplay" or "fun" ? Get rid of either the way Bounties and Objectives are met for players, or this rubbish hypocritical "commendation" system. Bad form Bungie.

I don’t understand why they STILL impose things in this way when sorry not sorry, it’s INSANELY obvious that it’s a bad idea. A players individual progress toward something should not be tied to other players in any way.

2 RepliesPlay crucible with a decent hunter outfit and get kills. You’ll get Best Dressed and other commendations super easy. Every time I’ve ranked up, I’ve never had to worry about the commendation receiving aspect (not that I rank up much)
