Tormentors are easily the most deadly and difficult enemy we have in Destiny 2. The combination of agility speed and suppression and knock back makes there unleashed form beyond deadly. In addition to this Tormentors require you to his there chest to do any meaningful damage in this state. They counter roaming supers and are able to struge of far more ability damage then any other major or boss enemies. The primary saving grace is the ability to freeze, Blind, and suspended non boss Tormentors
This is one strategy gose out the window when the game throws yellow bar Tormentors at you which will not be stopped by the effects.
I think they were more or less the apex of pve challange in Lightfall (outside of nezurec) With them becoming a more common enemy going in to the next expansion I feel Bungie would do well to make these enemies take more damage on body shots when unleashed and reduce the precision damage modifier on there chest slightly.
I think Tormentors should remain a scary enemy but over all feel as if they are more manageable when not having weapons that are adept at taking them down.

2 RepliesThe 90% damage resist on non crits is very dumb. agreed.
-
Honestly I am just tired of them zooming around while only having a single crit zone on their chest. I can only imagine how bad it must be for console players to aim. Breaking the shoulders should either remove the damage resist for a short time like Unstoppable Champions or add an extra crit zone on their back like the Cabal or Vex Wyverns. Making them both damage resistant and highly mobile isn't adding difficulty, it's just dragging out the activity. The best tool for them is still Machine Guns though.
-
1 ReplyThe real problem is the champion system and artifact limiting people to 6 weapons, 3 of which are not great dps. Making snipers, machine guns, and linear fusion rifles less likely to be used, which are the best ways to deal with tormentors.
-
Time to adapt guardian. Stop asking for enemy nerfs and learn to hit the large glowing boxes….
-
Nah, just remove the suicide enemies. That is what kills the roaming supers.
-
1 ReplyEasiest miniboss in the game, so many CC effects in the game if you struggle with these guys you're a bot. The named are a bit tougher but just keep moving and you're good
-
Nah. For once we have an actual strong ennemy. If you want to easily melt weak ennemies you have the remaining 99,99% of the ennemies.
-
Tormentors are fine for the most part because you can literally suspend them and render them useless. The only tormentor I have a problem with is the final boss on 50 wave onslaught. So annoying
-
No. Maybe the chest could be a lil bigger, or easier to hit, but they're great as they are imo
-
3 RepliesShoulders, and then chest makes for easy kill. I am much more frustrated with the big brigs that absorb bullets, rockets, LFR's, snipers, or any other meta damage weapon like sponges. I've done full reserve ammo dumps + GG into one during Onslaught, didn't even bet it down 50%. The big tormenter, however, BB, and Malfeasance had it gone in short order

use thunderlord.

Very impressed by Tormentors > chasing me around corners to even different ADU areas inside Midtown? that's just great from an enemy.. interesting attacks (the jump slam, the grab drain and the bursts..) .. no issues hitting crits on them.. with any weapons I've been using (usually heavy MG on them). I say leave them be. Free the Tormentors :) -
I hate to give against it, but I love fighting tormentors

1 ReplyUnfortunately, it going to be tougher than that. When final shape comes out, they will have abilities like strand and stasis,
-
2 RepliesTormentors and harpies are both pretty interesting to fight against, they actually require some attention/ thought to handle instead of just being a bullet sponge with a gun. Eg: in onslaught you need to prepare for the tormentor by distracting it with decoys and having precision weapons
-
Definitely…. They need multiple nerfs

5 RepliesSo a common complaint about destiny in it's early days was this: "All the enemies are functionally the same except for a different coat of paint. For all of them their gimmick is just shoot them in the head, except the vex where the gimmick is shoot them in the chest" The problem is that they did so little to remedy this problem over the years that the players have gotten used to the majority of the enemies playing functionally the same. Tormentors are one of very few changes of pace to that formula. I think that as they are they are a fine gameplay addition and not in need of many changes, it's just unfortunate to me that we've gotten to a point where things like this are not the standard.

3 RepliesI have found it fun to walk into Tormentors with Lament and Stronghold, your Invincible and you can occasionally do your spin around attack to DPS or distract the Tormentor. Useful in Onslaught when your teammates abandon the ADU and hide when a Tormentor spawns, see it too often.
-
The smaller ones you can suspend are preferred. I guess they’re my get gud with precision or die practice
-
2 RepliesI think instead of removing this engaging of an enemy type, this adrenaline rush of an enemy type, we need more of their kind. Just wait til final shape. No more dumping rockets into enemies then calling it a day. No more champions. Give me enemies like the dread any day of the week.
-
4 RepliesI’m all for buffing precision hits, but we shouldn’t buff body shots. Tormentors are a difficult enemy and should stay that way. We shouldn’t lower the skill cap on every single thing for every single player. Some people have to tackle the learning curve and take a few deaths or change their loadouts when they know Tormentors are in their path.
-
Wow. An enemy type that requires brain function to kill and you complain Lol
