Onslaught Reward Updates

We've been following feedback that there should be better incentives to stay in Onslaught for the full 50 waves, so teammates don't dip out after wave 10. We're adding two additional weapon rewards to Onslaught and buffing Trophies of Bravery drops to help address this. Change 1: A chance for one additional weapon to drop when you complete a wave. The drop chance will increase per wave until you get your weapon, and the drop will be guaranteed on wave 50. Change 2: A bonus weapon will also drop after you complete wave 50 in either difficulty. This change along with the first means that completing 50 waves will guarantee two additional weapons. We will also be increasing the number of Trophies of Bravery you receive from completing waves 40 and 50 of Onslaught and waves 30, 40, and 50 on Legend Difficulty. Our goal with these changes is to make sticking it out into the later waves feel more rewarding. We've also seen people ask if Shaxx's vendor reputation will be able to be reset. Lord Shaxx's vendor in the Hall of Champions was not meant to be reset and any text stating a reset is available is a bug. We investigated adding resets, but it wasn't feasible at this time. One of our goals with adding the additional chance for a weapon to drop when completing an Onslaught wave (as detailed above) is to increase the total rewards earned, as you can no longer earn BRAVE engrams from Shaxx after you hit his reputation cap. We are targeting an update next week to get these changes live in the game.

  • Nice Job Killing Destiny 2, this event has been the biggest waste of player time investment ever. What was meant to be a celebration of hype Destiny 2 has made the vast amount of players HATE your game. and what did you do basically spit in our faces and say that you wont do anything. For the time investment of full runs (upwards of an hour) onslaught should be way way more rewarding than it currently is like I mean overflowing with loot rewarding, like your devs actually stated multiple times during the 3 dev streams prior to its release. maybe follow a structure like 2 drops for wave 10, 3 for 20, 4 for 30, 5 for 40 and 6 for 50. And have every bonus round if completed drop a random ITL weapon. Anything less than this is just not rewarding player investment, wave 50 is not obtainable by everyone like the lighthouse many players fall before reaching it yet the rewards even after this change is severely lacking. Hell the seasonal activity the coil is more rewarding than onslaught with 6 chests at the end of a 20 run + another 5-10 chests in the run chests that drop weapons and materials like ascendant shards and alloys. Your response to the overwhelming feedback regarding the lack of rewards is mindblowing and shows how you are still so very disconnected with your playerbase. Something that I would have assumed you would try and improve given the fact FS is just arround the corner and I would have thought you would try and keep player retention. In regards to the shaxx reset thing, that response is completely wild to me, literally every vendor in the game has ranks that are resetable even limited time ones. There is legit no reason why this is limited to one rank up other than to keep the fomo in the game. You had one chance to listen to player feedback and make a positive change to keep player retention and chose to keep the fear of missing out aspect of this event which is the greediest decision you guys have ever made. Not to mention it makes his daily and repeatable bounties redundant and arcites bounties also redundant. Most players I know casual and hardcore had a reset at shaxx within 5-10 hours, 5-10 hours where it felt like their time was being rewarded before that rewarding sense took a nosedive off a cliff. Its wild to me that you take this route of spitting in the face of your entire playerbase. Its not a hard change, hell you could even make it so that shaxx has an infinite rank system like Finch or nimbus or at this rate just redo the hype vendor so its the same as every other vendor and resettable and just give the superblack key to everyone (its not like anyone who wasnt going for it doesn't have it already). As a vet player I have seen this game rise and fall over the past decade, good times and bad, but lately in the past couple of years ive seen the greed of bungie increase 10 fold, I think for the first time in destiny's history im cancelling my final shape preorder. You guys have zero respect for player investment nowadays. I thought with ITL's launch that maybe you had seen the error in your ways and were going to focus on player retention to keep Final shape and destiny alive, but now i see this is all just a means of making d2 look like its active still. You have made it abundantly clear you still have zero respect for the player investment into this game and this mode, which is far from the HYPE you advertised hell at this rate the rank should be called disappointment or despair becuase this is what this game mode feels like. You took all the fun out what should have been a celebration of destiny and made it more akin to a chore. I like many others will be throwing my hat in cancelling my finalshape preorder stop playing d2 watch this playlist and game take a nose dive Bungie because that is where your poor decisions and greed is taking it. Congratulations on killing the only IP keeping you afloat
