Onslaught Reward Updates

We've been following feedback that there should be better incentives to stay in Onslaught for the full 50 waves, so teammates don't dip out after wave 10. We're adding two additional weapon rewards to Onslaught and buffing Trophies of Bravery drops to help address this. Change 1: A chance for one additional weapon to drop when you complete a wave. The drop chance will increase per wave until you get your weapon, and the drop will be guaranteed on wave 50. Change 2: A bonus weapon will also drop after you complete wave 50 in either difficulty. This change along with the first means that completing 50 waves will guarantee two additional weapons. We will also be increasing the number of Trophies of Bravery you receive from completing waves 40 and 50 of Onslaught and waves 30, 40, and 50 on Legend Difficulty. Our goal with these changes is to make sticking it out into the later waves feel more rewarding. We've also seen people ask if Shaxx's vendor reputation will be able to be reset. Lord Shaxx's vendor in the Hall of Champions was not meant to be reset and any text stating a reset is available is a bug. We investigated adding resets, but it wasn't feasible at this time. One of our goals with adding the additional chance for a weapon to drop when completing an Onslaught wave (as detailed above) is to increase the total rewards earned, as you can no longer earn BRAVE engrams from Shaxx after you hit his reputation cap. We are targeting an update next week to get these changes live in the game.

  • Nice Job Killing Destiny 2, this event has been the biggest waste of player time investment ever. What was meant to be a celebration of hype Destiny 2 has made the vast amount of players HATE your game. and what did you do basically spit in our faces and say that you wont do anything. For the time investment of full runs (upwards of an hour) onslaught should be way way more rewarding than it currently is like I mean overflowing with loot rewarding, like your devs actually stated multiple times during the 3 dev streams prior to its release. maybe follow a structure like 2 drops for wave 10, 3 for 20, 4 for 30, 5 for 40 and 6 for 50. And have every bonus round if completed drop a random ITL weapon. Anything less than this is just not rewarding player investment, wave 50 is not obtainable by everyone like the lighthouse many players fall before reaching it yet the rewards even after this change is severely lacking. Hell the seasonal activity the coil is more rewarding than onslaught with 6 chests at the end of a 20 run + another 5-10 chests in the run chests that drop weapons and materials like ascendant shards and alloys. Your response to the overwhelming feedback regarding the lack of rewards is mindblowing and shows how you are still so very disconnected with your playerbase. Something that I would have assumed you would try and improve given the fact FS is just arround the corner and I would have thought you would try and keep player retention. In regards to the shaxx reset thing, that response is completely wild to me, literally every vendor in the game has ranks that are resetable even limited time ones. There is legit no reason why this is limited to one rank up other than to keep the fomo in the game. You had one chance to listen to player feedback and make a positive change to keep player retention and chose to keep the fear of missing out aspect of this event which is the greediest decision you guys have ever made. Not to mention it makes his daily and repeatable bounties redundant and arcites bounties also redundant. Most players I know casual and hardcore had a reset at shaxx within 5-10 hours, 5-10 hours where it felt like their time was being rewarded before that rewarding sense took a nosedive off a cliff. Its wild to me that you take this route of spitting in the face of your entire playerbase. Its not a hard change, hell you could even make it so that shaxx has an infinite rank system like Finch or nimbus or at this rate just redo the hype vendor so its the same as every other vendor and resettable and just give the superblack key to everyone (its not like anyone who wasnt going for it doesn't have it already). As a vet player I have seen this game rise and fall over the past decade, good times and bad, but lately in the past couple of years ive seen the greed of bungie increase 10 fold, I think for the first time in destiny's history im cancelling my final shape preorder. You guys have zero respect for player investment nowadays. I thought with ITL's launch that maybe you had seen the error in your ways and were going to focus on player retention to keep Final shape and destiny alive, but now i see this is all just a means of making d2 look like its active still. You have made it abundantly clear you still have zero respect for the player investment into this game and this mode, which is far from the HYPE you advertised hell at this rate the rank should be called disappointment or despair becuase this is what this game mode feels like. You took all the fun out what should have been a celebration of destiny and made it more akin to a chore. I like many others will be throwing my hat in cancelling my finalshape preorder stop playing d2 watch this playlist and game take a nose dive Bungie because that is where your poor decisions and greed is taking it. Congratulations on killing the only IP keeping you afloat

    • You guys knew this. You KNEW it. What you did was allow players to grind like mad for the first week or so, to inflate numbers. You knew the drop rates were doo-doo. Anyone who believes this mess at this point deserves what they get. What better way to get players "engaged" again, by announcing a "fix" next reset?

      • Weapon drop rate is still awful. Are shiny weapons real? I don’t seem to get any. It’s seems like a waste of time when I don’t even get a gun I feel was worth it. Please improve it.

        • Couple things that always drives me nuts here 1. No intention to have Shaxx reset? What is that? Why have rewards based on leveling him at all then? Still not being able to anticipate these things is wild. 2. As always had there been an over abundance of shiny drops this issue would have been fixed in 10 minutes. Planning an update for a week out is nuts. And the shiny drops are working around 4%. That’s abysmal

        • Completing 50 waves on normal or legend should guarantee a shiny weapon! it's a waste of time to spend an hour to get the same rolls every time! i don't even get any shiny weapons anymore! attunement is rubbish, out of 10 weapons, 6-7 would be just the weapons i don't want! and this rewards update is just lazzy!

            • ***SINIPPED & REPOSTED*** If I attune a certain weapon (M Coup) I am happy to run my 10s and 20-bounty runs to farm that weapon, and that weapon only. If a shiny variant of that weapon drops - even better. I want to be swimming in my chosen attuned weapon until I’ve got the few rolls I’m after…and once that’s done, I’ll switch attunement to my next weapon I’m after, and go farm that… I do not expect any other weapon to spoil my farming of my attuned weapon…with the exception of a shiny weapon of any type. This is what I expected…but it’s not what I’ve experienced. Besides this disappointment, the throttling mechanism appears to be in force yet again, despite BHQs ‘trust us…you’ll be swimming in loot’ Dev comments made in those streams.             • Yes we'll after 4 days of onslaught yet not have a shiny machine gun drop. Even atuned. This is not called unlucky but a bug that you must going through because most of us we pay from day 1 and this is not called RNG. is a bug. So fix it because we give you money

                I think the wrong switch was flipped. First 2 rounds of 10 round onslaught at the cosmo was a meat grinder last night. Twice in a row couldnt go further than 2 rounds. Whole battalion of enemies came out of no where and trashed the ADU. Last night was much more difficult since the launch when we could all have a pancake breakfast before the enemy got close. Also, for those who dont know, throw the batteries at the adu. Especially when its screaming out and on fire. Dont run up and melee it with the battery. Silly gooses.

                • Great more useless chests with 0 shinies in them. Give us 200 chests I dont care. i dont need 200 garbage guns. I want the special editions, most these weapons are so bad theyll never be used ever. Doing Onslaught for 10-30 hours and getting 0 shinies isn’t an issue of “We need more chests” Its a hard flaw in your RNG system. And 2 extra chests in a 1 hour run isnt gonna fix that.

                    This is not enough incentive to fix the main issue. The main issue is that the highly sought after reward solely for participating in the activity during this [u]short limited-time[/u] is random shiny variants of the Brave weapons and we [b]are not[/b] receiving shiny variants. That was the entire purpose of playing the activity at the moment and not just waiting to play it later this year during The Final Shape. The drop rate is incredibly low, perhaps even lower than 10% and as stated by Bungie devs during the Into the Light livestream, shiny variants were to be plentiful. Playing 400-500+ waves of Onslaught over the course of one or two days and not receiving any shiny variants is not plentiful. The livestream was all hype-based and very much deceiving. If the final reward after completing 50-waves of Onslaught on normal difficulty was raised to 100 chests, it still wouldn't matter because we would most likely only receive one shiny variant or maybe even none at all. The issue isn't the amount of Brave weapons we're receiving, we're receiving many of those just from playing the activity - The issue is the reoccurring feeling of disappointment when you reach wave 50 and nothing is guaranteed and the rewards are completely lackluster, so it feels like you spent all that time for absolutely nothing. The activity is fun but the rewards where it stands, even after this update is cheap and bland. The hype right now isn't for Onslaught, the hype isn't for sunset/brave weapons, the hype [u]at the moment[/u] is being able to obtain the perfect god roll shiny variants of our most wanted Brave weapons. After this reward update is made, I assure you that most players will continue playing 10-waves of legend and resetting the activity.

                      • i just spent five hours getting a single clear of legend onslaught, and in that entire tiime, only one shiny dropped and it was GARBAGE. that is also one of [i]maybe[/i] three thhat have dropped for me since the event began. that's a very shaky maybe, if i did get more than this one i absolutely don't remember what they were. the other folk saying there's no incentive to go the whole way are correct. i'm not even going to farm, this is deeply hurtful and almost insulting.

                      • There is no reason to do it on legend . You don't get adept weapons , artifice armor , increased chance of getting a shiny weapon .                           Guarantee shiny. 2 guaranteed weapons per chest. (2 for regular / 4 for legendary) Until you do that. There’s is no incentive to do more than a wave 10 clear.

                          This is the kind of response that makes your 'we are listening' line seem like such an absolute joke. 2 extra weapon drops, really if it was 20 it would barely be enough reason to keep going past wave 10. A 50 wave run typically takes over an hour in that same time we can do 10 waves 7-10 times. So farming 10 waves offers very roughly a 100% increase in loot drops per time spent. THATS 100% MORE. To make continuing to wave 50 even remotely worth the time and effort you would need to more than DOUBLE the loot throughout and your solution is 2 just 2 more weapon drops. Or about 10% more drops. Way to fail again. Reason to go past 10 waves before the change zero, after yup still zero. Seriously unless you make it 2, 3, 4, 5, 7 chests at 10, 20, 30 etc. or a guaranteed shiny when completing 50 it simply doesn't make sense to do it.

                          You always say "CHANCE". Why don't you just make it a definitive word. It will make the grind more rewarding. No "CHANCE". We're not playing in the casino where you get a chance to win. CHANCE is for gamblers. Destiny players do not play for chance. They play for reward. If all we get are "CHANCES", what's the point? At least, guarantee the reward after every objective completion. -blam!- CHANCE!
