2 RepliesThose ornaments are free (non-synth) versions for iron banner armor. If you want them as universal ornaments, then synth is needed.

Edited by EckyThump: 4/8/2024 3:54:23 PMHey there, good question, here's a bit of history. These Year 1 'armor ornaments' were made to go on a specific set, or range of sets. So the Iron Banner ornaments were intended to go on Iron Banner sets, the Crucible and Strike prestige sets on the Crucible and Strike gear, the Leviathan prestige ornaments on the Leviathan sets, etc. When you unlock them, they will appear as cosmetic options on the relevant gear, so Iron Banner pieces. You can use them on these for free. In Year 3, 'Universal' ornaments were introduced, ones that were not tied to specific sets like these original ornaments. They are called Universal to distinguish them from the old type. When the transmog system was introduced, these old style ornaments took some time to be added to it, but eventually were in 2021. They can still be used for free on their intended sets, but finally people were able to unlock them as Universals using synthweave. Nothing has changed since then apart from for the first time since 2018, these old ornaments have been made available again, and function exactly the same for you here and now, as for someone who earned them back then and maybe unlocked them as universals when that was finally possible in 2021. So yes. You need to use synthweave to unlock them on non-IB gear, but can use them at no cost on IB gear itself, like their original function.
