I'm trash at this game and I stumbled into Rank 9 by accident. Anyone who assigns worth to guardian rank is a dweeb of the highest order.

They don't lol. Guardian ranks are just a 'checklist' by bungie to get us to try all aspects of the game, that's it.

I feel like they should give more options as you rank up. Instead of having set requirements, make more options to compete activities, or make them more generic. Such as: Complete any raid Complete any dungeon Or Complete two legendary GMs And so on, instead of restricting it to only certain events. Like you can complete any 2 events/modes out of 5-6 options. Obviously more completion of harder content as you move up in rank.

Let’s be real all forms of ranking or unique loot are forms of ego tripping. Show those tasks or banners you are proud of. Guardians rank shows that you played each item once. It doesn’t show how good anyone is at it. I have to laugh when LFG filters by ranking since it is meaningless for finding guardians that are good at it.

You don't need to raid. I don't. Most of the loot is bad, it's not worth the time. It's boring... it's too easy to be considered endgame. Outside of contest and master. Most people cheese master loot, titles... Things might change, I hope they do. "Fireteam size specific loot". It's the most expensive content to develop, the easiest endgame... with the worst rewards respective player time investment. I've been on this soapbox since I tested VoG in D1. If you could run 8 people with decreased loot viability... It would change the game now that we have Fireteam Finder. If you could run 4 with increased loot rng and quality... it would change the "fake tryhard" culture significantly. Spoils should be raid specific and mode specific... Exploits and cheeses need to patched out immediately. And the 11 refresh shouldn't be possible until GMs go live each episode... because what people do, every major balance pass or sandbox update... is find the broken stuff, then get their refreshes done immediately before it gets patched. Making people wait for GMs to go live would allow Bungie the opportunity to fix that broken stuff. That's WHY GM's aren't available immediately. People would rush to cheese. Like raid titles and solo dungeons for rank 11. I'm certainly biased, but that's why I'm a GM player. I'm in the real endgame now... and that's min-maxed character progression with gear. That's all I work on. I've figured out the best loops for this progression. That's the stuff I do. Raids don't offer much... that can't be acquired elsewhere much more efficiently. Adept mods have the most value in PvP... so you don't need raid adepts. It seems that everything will eventually be enhance'able in the future... so you don't need raid crafts either. The armor is meh, the artifice raid armor isn't worth your time vs. Master Dungeons & seasonal kiosks. Raids are huge & amazing set pieces. But beyond that, there's no reason to raid... not if you want the best characters.... And I think I've proved it. I set out to do so. That's why I don't raid. I'm actually looking for a bump up... because GMs are starting to get boring to me too. They're like strikes to me now. I got the loot I wanted this season, gilded my Conqueror in FF with no mic with new GM players. I love CoiL but GMs took a hit, because I used to farm GMs for mats. I didn't need to do that all season. Tldr: Raiding does not determine your worth or represent skill in this game. It sounds like you had a toxic experience... don't let that nonsense undermine the skills you clearly have. 😇 👍💠

The people who haven’t done vow or garden can’t read. It’s easy. Garden is literally gambit but you hold hands throughout each encounter and vow is funny symbols like kanye=guardian. Dungeons are glorified strikes/story missions they were made to be solo’d. 💀 I would rather have someone who raided more often than someone who does more dungeons. No offense

If you care about guardian rank, just do one Crotas end raid. Then you're rank 9.

Raids do determine your worth as a player outside of guardian ranks though. Would you rather play a GM with someone who has never raided, a player who has only done a couple raids, or someone who has done at minimum, 40 plus runs of the same raid, not counting other runs with other raids. I would much rather have that 40 runner, because at least they will have a better understanding of the game and how it runs (so they could focus on mechanics first, and not gameplay)

I disagree. While I think Guardian ranks is a complete joke and waste of time, I do think that if you [u]want[/u] to achieve the highest ranks, you should have to complete all the content there is. I'd even go so far as to say there should be more challenges to complete to attain the max ranks, such as a flawless trials passage and even some sort of comp completion. If you wanna prove you're all that, be all that and do all the crap required. I myself never got to rank 11 because I couldn't be bothered doing a raid boss checkpoint. I never saw the value in it. The rest just got done as a matter of course.

This would imply that Guardian Ranks have any intrinsic value beyond what the community puts on it. The vast majority of players don’t care what Guardian Rank you are

It’s almost like guardian ranks is a check list of doing everything in the game and well… you’ve not done everything in the game.

They don't really matter anyway... atleast for me. The only reason I got rank 8 is so I can have 10 loadout slots, otherwise I wouldn't even bother.

I can't stand raids so I am a forever 8.

Ranks should be permanent instead of a list of chores to stay in that rank, your worth should be listed on amount of completions you've done in your profile
