99% of hackers. botters and blatant cheaters could be banned instantly and easily
How any of these things are even an issue in 2024 in actually beyond me. How someone hasn't figured out basic parameters of 'anyone who exceeds X = instant ban'. -blam!- how hard is it for anyone reported of botting to be hit with a pop up message "are you using a bot LMAO" and if they don't hit the prompt instant perm ban. The actual problem is that unless its a streamer with a army of report spammers Bungie actually doesn't care and in reality would rather let people hack all weekend long, ban them after they've sold 20 recoveries and let them purchase the DLC again, as far as they're concerned the only time anything needs to be done is if it causes lost revenue.

Are you implying that they take resources away from ornament-making and make the game fair for everyone? That’s crazy talk. Bungie needs more money, not less cheaters.

Playing IB today, got destroyed by pulse rifle which turned out to be Mida on the kill feed. Seems legit 😂

1 ReplyBungie did say that the report button in game doesn't do anything and the only way to report cheaters is to record them cheat and sent it to Bungie.

Mid trials 1v1 both teams start reporting the alive players to force a prompt Also there are fishing macros that use screen capture to get perfect catches - the prompt will be near instantly bypassed. Theres also other ones that'll spam the catch button. So doesn't take much to just have the bot constantly click in the same place the prompt will appear

I played a Ib earlier today. Dude was a level 5 adventurer, went on a 26-0 hitting the sketchiest shots ever. They are not even attempting to hide it anymore.

8 RepliesWould you look at all the excuses and deflection that this community provides for cheaters. These people are not only ruining your matches, and the matches of others, but actively tying up development time and resources, compromising the integrity of the game itself(both in perception of fair play & the code of the game itself), and raking in millions of dollars on the backs of the average player…. Cheating no matter what any of you people believe, is on the rise and there are a multitude of resources easily available to prove it. The current model on how to deal with cheating isn’t happening in a void, unrelated to the aforementioned rise in cheating…. You can’t solve a problem with the same methods and thinking that contributed to the problem. Zero tolerance is needed, name and shame is needed. With that said, false reports need to be punished and ban appeals need to be taken seriously as well, even at the cost of the bottom line, at least until the mess is under control.

Because that report button would get hit 3 million times a day. When I was on Xbox me and 2 randoms beat a preformed guild team. 7-0. I got my name reported for being offensive and had to change it. That is what is where the community is at. So don’t sweat the dumb stuff. When it’s not fun take a break.

They don't care and I believe they are getting kickbacks from cheat makers and boosting services...the devs that is. Remember the whole we are suing blah blah blah and the new anticheat and giving constant updates?? It's thier usual bs fluff campaign. This game is only those who cheat and those who leave the gane. Ran into a brand new character, no history nothing with over 1800 kills with the multimach smg and a 100% accuracy...had over 90 kills in the one game I was in and is still at it nonstop. THEY DONT CARE CAUSE YOU KEEP PAYING THEM

9 RepliesThey could let us help them. We can't post videos of blatant cheaters because of name and shame. WHY? Pubg announces lists every week of all the cheaters they banned.... usually over 100k every week. Rainbow 6 streams the names of cheaters banned live in game. It's not like a gamer tag has anything to do with a real persons name, so how is it naming and shaming to post a video of cheaters, cheating? If we could post videos of players flying around, maybe it would get the security teams attention to ban these accounts. I fill out cheat reports, attach video proof, and it still takes weeks and weeks to ban these accounts. I feel like Bungie is making it harder than it needs to be. (Add to the fact they SAY they will ban 3rd party hardware usage in game, and then they don't.) (They say they will take action for name and shame on the forums and boy will they.) Why is it they are strict on the forums, against honest players, but not in the game against cheaters??? Maybe put some of the forum patrol to work in game, I for one would think that would be a much more useful place for them.

What would these parameters be? I mean since they changed special ammo it’s kind of hart to see cheaters on a headshot basis because missed shots are not counting. Would you expect a gamer with 100HS rate as a cheater if he is hitting 2-3 sniper HS per game over 5 games? Since the special ammo economy is changed, it’s hard to tell based on the number of kills?

4 RepliesAn effective anti cheat needs to 1: Effectively work against the current methods that cheaters are using, 2: Effectively work against every other methods that cheaters have ever previously used, 3: Be adaptable enough to be able to change to work against whatever new cheats that cheaters come up with to circumvent the anti cheat, and 4: [i]not flag false positives[/i]. That last one is really important, because if you get banned despite not cheating, you're probably not coming back to play again even if the ban gets lifted. Now, if you can find anybody that has made a system that does all of these things without requiring me to basically give up all of my control over my own computer to the developer of that anti cheat, congratulations you will have revolutionized cybersecurity and probably made a functionally unlimited amount of money in the process. Cheating is not an easy problem to solve, and believe me, if they weren't trying, it would be a lot worse.

Its reached silly levels now. Xim on consols and aimbot/wallhack and others. Nothing will ever be done as many “top” players use em and so do some self-confessed streamers. How will it ever be sorted when those people have Bungies ear? I have played enough to know when I’m facing a cheater/assisted gamplay or someone just better. If its suss just go to orbit, screw em.

Just like anything else, someone being wrongfully accused is worse than 10 people getting away with it. So "easily" is probably not the word to be using.
