Can solo-matchmaking result in a ban?
Hi there folks,
I have a friend who like myself plays on PS5 and now and again he will change his date and time to a random date and time in the future, this allows him to load into any match-made activity solo apart from anything PvP related, if you attempt to run any Crucible or Gambit you are stuck in the orbit matchmaking screen forever until you cancel matchmaking.
The main benefit of doing this is so that you can load into strikes solo to complete bounties or load into a patrol zone and you don’t have to worry about a random player killing that high value target you were searching for, it used to be super helpful when you were completing Spider’s bounties for killing the high value targets especially.
After this weeks TWID it was mentioned that any account that was caught manipulating the matchmaking system would be subject to a ban. Would altering your console date and time to do this make you liable for a ban or is it only for those accounts that use software and other nefarious means to manipulate the matchmaking?

1 ReplyThis is the vague and open ended kind of rule they love to put out. Technically this is already against ToS because it's covered under their network manipulation rules. It has been ignored for years. If they want to ban you they will, but they still have content creators regularly creating content using these methods that they ignore so... I believe the spirit of the rule, is more about manipulating "competitive" matchmaking specifically. So since you're in PvE you'll probably be fine, but never say never, eh?
