Hi there folks,
I have a friend who like myself plays on PS5 and now and again he will change his date and time to a random date and time in the future, this allows him to load into any match-made activity solo apart from anything PvP related, if you attempt to run any Crucible or Gambit you are stuck in the orbit matchmaking screen forever until you cancel matchmaking.
The main benefit of doing this is so that you can load into strikes solo to complete bounties or load into a patrol zone and you don’t have to worry about a random player killing that high value target you were searching for, it used to be super helpful when you were completing Spider’s bounties for killing the high value targets especially.
After this weeks TWID it was mentioned that any account that was caught manipulating the matchmaking system would be subject to a ban. Would altering your console date and time to do this make you liable for a ban or is it only for those accounts that use software and other nefarious means to manipulate the matchmaking?
Any feedback would be appreciated,
Thanks ✌🏻

1 ReplyI would not take the risk. Honestly destiny lately has been pretty stingy about there bans, for example a few weeks back a day 1 raider with 4 world champions had a mod program for a different game that was 15 yrs old on his computer and destiny saw that as against there tos so there interpretation can be kinda weary so why talk the risk

2 RepliesWhy would they ban anyone for simply playing alone and not affecting nobody else lol

4 RepliesEdited by Zodleon: 4/5/2024 10:06:44 AMBungie is aware of this kind of manipulation as they referenced it on a twab *fix* back during the forges. Where they fixed a farm. This shouldn't result in a ban as they are aware of it. They generally hold any exploits that happen from in game oversights, are not thing they tend to ban ppl for, example when trace rifles dealt like 400% damage in crucible.

2 Repliesif you get reported probably

Nope, people did this a long time ago, so they can load into like Nightfalls solo, haven’t heard of anyone getting banned for it.

Edited by TravDawg: 4/5/2024 5:23:07 PMFestival of the lost had an option to run the haunted forest solo called firewalled, there's not reason they couldn't put it on strikes/etc.

It’s unlikely this would ban you. The lobby manipulation bungie is most likely referring to is intentionally queuing with an alt account with bad stats to get into easier lobbies in PvP and get around SBMM.

1 ReplyThis is the vague and open ended kind of rule they love to put out. Technically this is already against ToS because it's covered under their network manipulation rules. It has been ignored for years. If they want to ban you they will, but they still have content creators regularly creating content using these methods that they ignore so... I believe the spirit of the rule, is more about manipulating "competitive" matchmaking specifically. So since you're in PvE you'll probably be fine, but never say never, eh?

1 ReplyYou're telling me you didn't understand the info at all. They are talking about purposefully lowering your pvp stats and ranks by playing intentionally poorly (again, in pvp) so that you get easy lobbies to "pop off" in to reach certain goals.

1 ReplyManipulating the matchmaking is more of changing your location with somthing like a VPN or somthing of the like, since the date and time change is a solo experience thing he shouldn't even be able to be reported in the first place

1 ReplyI highly doubt that specific case would result in a ban, but hopefully a mentor or something will respond. Would be interesting to know.
