A handful of recommendations to take or leave: Hades
This sounds ideal for what you described. When you’re new and untested runs go quick because you die. When you learn the mechanics runs go quick because it only takes between 15 and 20 minutes to complete them anyway. 10 when you start to master. There is a weird inbetween area where they can take 20 to 30 min, but you can pause and suspend at any time. The game takes fricken forever to complete too. Just escaping for the 1st time isn’t even scratching the surface of the story of the game. I don’t know how many hours I dumped in but I know I still had more to do. The music okay. But definitely not needed. And the voice acting is actually pretty good. But still not needed.
Ori games.
I think you played these. If so you know the drill. Simple enough. Easy enough. You can basically suspend whenever.
Eiyuden Chronicle
Very simple and basic. A good game for playing in short stints. 100%ing isn’t a huge task but it does take time. Controls aren’t too involved but it is satisfying to pull off combos. I remember the music being charming but nothing you’ll miss much on by muting it.
Golden Sun
Old school JRPG. Quite long. But with the switch’s suspend feature you can stop and pick up at literally any point. Music is solid but definitely mutable and no voice acting at all to worry about because it’s a classic jrpg.
If I think of anything else later I’ll throw them on the list.

 • I've already played the first two. I'll probably pass on Golden Sun, because even though Switch has that suspend feature, I really don't like leaving games open unless I absolutely have to. Never heard of the third one. What is it?

 • It came out as kind of a precursor game to the full version Eiyudoen Chronicles: 100 heroes, a game based on the art and style of the Suikoden series, that will release later this year. But that’s just background info. It’s a side scroller Metroid-esque with fairly simplistic controls. You play a character who just showed up in a frontier town to hunt for treasure. The meat of the game is going into the map to fulfill requests for the townspeople. Nothing crazy. Basically amounts to busy work. The interesting mechanic is once you fill out your party each attack button corresponds to a different party member and they switch instantly to make their attack allowing you to string together some fun and interesting combos. A little later you throw elemental aspects in to the attacks as well. Not enough to make you ever really need to think, but enough to keep shaking things up.

 • Oh, so is it sort of like Indivisible then?

 • I was unfamiliar with Indivisible, but at a glance very similar art and tone.

 • I was more wondering if it had Indivisible-esque gameplay. In Indivisible, you assign a character to a button, and then you use your team of four to string together combos. Each character has 3 regular moves and a special move, done by inputting either a direction and their button, or in the case of the special move, the special move button and their button. It's really fun. Feels almost like a fighting game, but easier to pull off.
