Weapon Crafting Changes

Before Lightfall, I would really enjoy the ability to purchase past seasons red borders. Not RAID red borders. Maybe like 200 shards each? It’s hard enough for new players to jump in just to find out that to get the best loadouts you’re going to have to wait randomly each week to get a red border, that you can’t get anymore. Wouldn’t even need time to create this system, just change a few UI tweaks to the crafting table, and implant a quick buy system that would take 2-3 weeks tops.

  • Voted no. Why does it need to be made easier for new players? No, I'm not gate keeping, but that's dumb lol. They are new, so of course they not gonna have all the best stuff fresh out the gate. And you know what? That's ok. They can play the game like every one else. Just cause they new doesn't make them special lol. Hell, bungie already helping them out by giving them loot that makes them soft cap light level by just logging on and opening a chest lol.

    • I hate crafting, but if people want the weapons for it, go ahead.

    • I am worry about crafting. Seem bungie might reduced red border for craft for each season. I don’t know why but after Into the Light, seem they are focus on enchantments on weapon types only. I know red border weapons still in play for raids. But seasons (Final Shape) weapons, that I am not sure. Bungie keep changing things for better or not. I can be wrong here.

    • Even though we have kinda guaranteed drops, it'll took forever to craft a weapon. Something should be done. Maybe some kind of bounty, which awarded us with red border or deepsight harmonizer.

As a player who played since beta I have to say new players have it extremely rough and have to agree with the red border should be purchase maybe add it to the kiosk vendor It is a problem for current players as well especially non border weapons behind the season pass you can't grind due to low players and a old seasonal activity Might do a post about this issue later

    • It's really not necessary. Every season new weapons and reprised old weapons come out. What that means is that it doesn't take new players any longer to get a vault of God rolls than it took those of us that have been here the whole time. You don't deserve a shortcut just because you're new. Not to mention the meta is constantly shifting. Hell, in Witch Queen they changed the way the subclasses play entirely. That involved all of us old-timers shifting from having shield matching load outs for end game to just matching energy weapons to our subclass. But you probably have no idea what I'm talking about. We spent years saving God roll kinetic primary weapons because they were our most used weapons. Now they have no synergy at all and we cleaned them out and replaced them with energy primaries and now kinetic serves almost no purpose at all except in pvp... Even in pvp they aren't necessary.

      • Even then, new weapon will substitute your currently weapon (example Into The Light event) so even if you want Piece of Mind, later you will get a better pulse.

        • They’re removing shards so I’m not sure you’d be able to purchase it there. Don’t the missions drop previous seasonal crafted weapons? Pressage etc

          • Honestly, the drop rate of red boarders that weren't from the season vendor is just terrible on top of the need for multiple copies of it. I enjoy crafting allowing you to make the weapons you enjoy (despite there not being that many good ones in my opinion) and just wish they let it work with basically every weapon. I get some people enjoy the grind for random rolls, but not everyone has the time or the want to grind for one weapon out of who knows how many possible rolls.

          • There really is no chance for a new player to catch up, if they joined just now. Sure they could catch up to the current DLC if they had the Annual Pass but what about the 24 seasonal weapons from the Witch Queen? The whole concept of this crafting system was flawed from the start, way too complicated for what it turned out to be. If they are going to keep this system, they should at least have a single weekly quest like they do for Xur's Exotic Cypher.

            • Not just new players, but existing players that didnt have time to get all of the red borders during the seasons... There should be ways to earn all past weapons in the game. Especially because perks and weapon balance changes, and vault space is so limited, that you can delete stuff that is bad at the time, then 2-3 seasons later it becomes a great option but you dont have it anymore...

              • The best solution would be to just remove the exotic mission rotator since they’re all available there now to farm. Everyone else had to grind rng red borders back then, no reason to change that requirement now.

              • Not against the idea, but new players don’t have large stockpiles of shards. Besides aren’t shards supposed to be depreciated? A red border vendor might need to be more accessible if it’s meant for new lights. In any case, onslaught is a good way for new players to get a decent set of weapons to start out with.
