Hey fellow guardians, It has taken me some time to consider creating this post but after careful consideration, I believe it is necessary. Question: Is it worth running a Clan in Destiny 2? I am speaking from writing from the standing point of managing a clan since November 2022. Yes, I am fully aware that some clans have been running since the launch of D2 and you may have created friendships that have stood the test of time but this post is directed to those who aspire to create their inner community. So let's start with the responsibilities: 1) Firstly you need to create an environment that is welcoming to the type of people you would like to see in your clan. This i name "Creation" 2) You need to network with strangers online and source candidates that match the vibe of the community you inspire to develop. 3) Then you need to pitch your clan and its community guidelines or rules to determine if the suitable candidate is willing to fit into such a community. <<<Now the above steps only form recruitment, so buckle up there a lot more!>>> 4) Now that you have some players in your army, the next step is to introduce them to one other with the hope and prayer that they don't kill each other or hate each other's guts...This I name "Implementation". 5) This would require you to maintain a platform, such as Discord, you will spend many hours building this virtual server and discovering the features it provides, all of this at the cost of your time and effort. 6) Once your community platform is done, you will need to port your clan mate over by sending out invites, asking for the discord name, searching them, adding them, and then inviting them. 7) They arrive on your server and guess what, you need to walk them through the channels and explain what they are used for. Only to hope that they use it the right way... <<<Still think you done? Nope, this is barely the start, it's like putting wheels on the frame of a car!>>> 8) The next phase is going to take more time and effort than you ever imagined and this I name "Preservation". You will need to ensure that people are abiding by the agreed community guidelines whenever an issue pops up or a disagreement happens. You need to apply a sensible mind that is not biased to ensure that the situation is handled appropriately. 9) Some will like you for this and some with hate you, so thicken your skin and do the necessary. 10) Next you will see players leave, some players join and take other away with them, unfortunately there is nothing you can do about this as everyone does what they please and you just have to appreciate the time you shared. 11) You have to return to Step (2) and breathe new life into the clan through new players. 12) The clan goes quiet with many players bored of destiny or just taking a break and planning to return in the next season. Guess what? you have to return to Step (2). 13) Other players leave because they found other active players online whilst your clan is quiet. Yip you guessed it, you have to return to Step (2) 14) New players join but they are not comfortable with others yet, guess who needs to help, Yes buddy, you're right, it's you again! Now bear in mind that all of these efforts and time spent are at your own cost and loss. You will receive no discounts from Bungie, no bright dust, no silver, no free season pass, no free DLC, no weapons, no armor, no sparrow, no ghost, no nothing, ZERO! When you take a step back, you then realize that you have become a free employee of the franchise. You have enslaved yourself into a responsibility that has no reward and wasted your valuable time. I'm AceOfBlades#8277 and this is my answer to my question, whats yours?

  • If you actually play with friends a lot then probably yes. If you mostly solo though or just play with random then only sort of. That being said, there are 'solo clans' out there like the one I'm in that don't really play together much at all (if ever) and instead just grouped up for the free rewards from Hawthorne each week.
