I think perhaps remakes and reboots have gotten somewhat out of hand, particularly due to a few articles I've read over the last few days.
First up, a reboot of the 80's b-movies 'Ghoulies' is in the works by the original creators, who seem to have aspirations of a new trilogy, with scripts for two movies already in the works. Not sure how I feel about this since the originals were kind of awful, even by b-movie standards. Interestingly, Mariska Hargitay of 'Law and Order: SVU' fame had her first role in 'Ghoulies.'
Next, 'Leprechaun' is getting a reboot. I'm at a loss here since this one wasn't that great either and proceeded to get worse as the franchise went forward. Funny enough, another well-known actress was in the movie that kicked off this series, Jennifer Aniston.
Lastly, a remake of 'Little Shop of Horrors' is in the works currently, although production was delayed on this one due to Covid. I have mixed feelings on this one; I can't imagine anyone playing Orin Scrivello D.D.S. other than Steve Martin but who knows? It could be a great revival of the film/musical.
Any thoughts?
