Battle-eye crash. Windows not having access to device, path, or file..

Destiny worked fine on thursday evening, but today when I tried launching, I get this error about windows not having access. I have not started my pc since thursday so there is no possibility that anything has changed on my pc since thursday. I am running windows 10 and im NOT a part of any windows insider programs. I have tried verifying my files through the pc xbox app, and re-installed battle-eye. Nothing has helped. What gives?

    • Been dealing with this. Had issue last week managed to fix it but those fixes (uninstall game, delete all game files and battleye from all drives. Reinstall game from store page, hit play and reinstall battleye) Didn't work yesterday or this morning. Opened steam as administrator and game loads just fine..... So be it steam or epic games , try open as administrator Hope this helps

I found a temporary fix, I think the MS Store version of the game points to the wrong executable. To have your game running do the following: - Browse to the game files - Browse to the "installers" folder, then to the "battleye" folder - Edit "BELauncher.ini" and change "Destiny2.exe" to "../Destiny2.exe" (the service needs to target the game in parent folder) - Start "BEService_x64.exe" as administrator - Go back to "installers" and start "destiny2launcher.exe" as administrator I hope BE fixes this ASAP

        • Is anyone else still having this problem? Tried to play destiny today and couldn’t get it to load - exact same messages happening to me.

        • I would like to comment, that I have not done anything since reporting this issue and IT HAS BEEN FIXED! I suspect that enough players and bungie have been reporting the issue to Battleye and they got to the bottom of it. Thank you community & Bungie for the team effort!

          • Same situation for me. Played Friday morning, attempted to launch Saturday and get the same error you encountered. "WIndows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." I am on Windows 10, do not participate in windows insider. Nothing seems to work to fix

            • I've been having the same issue. Windows version of the game. Lastnight before I went to bed this started happening. I tired two fresh reinstalls, and numinous restarts. Tired launching from both the Windows apps folder and Xbox games folder. I have no idea what is going on.

I’m currently running the latest windows 11 install and am not part of the insider program either. I got the same error code as well. I went to my files and ran the “destiny2launcher.exe” as admin and that seems to be working just fine for now but obviously we’ll still have to wait for an update to see if this issue can be fixed. I’m playing through Steam though idk about any other versions

Exact same thing happened to me. Does everyone here have the latest Windows updates installed on their PC?
