I've been thinking about this and with the new Persistence card in trials, I'm for removing the lockout for NF adepts.
You would still need to unlock the base (non-adept) version, but after that you could focus for the weekly adept in rotation with NF ciphers.
Here's the deal: I've farmed a lot of GMs... I break down like 99% of them. Giving a similar path of attrition in PvE where the player need to invest 3+ hrs to earn a single drop?
That isn't too much.
GMs are my favorite thing, btw... I have every god roll for every GM weapon ever, so I'm not asking for handouts. I want to incentivize GM play...
@Bungie for your consideration... Please & thank you 😇 👍💠.

Atm for me with all the rubbish battleground GM's This season we just completed whatever was on during the week for the seal and didn't go back to them lol none of us want to spend any more time in there grinding for adapt weapons when it comes to battleground GM's This season its been a little easier mainly because of how strong P Lance is with certain builds

Adepts use to have some prestige to them. At this point in the games life cycle I agree with this idea.

1 ReplyI don't think that's a good idea. GMs are the same every single time. Any team that is ready for GM content should be able to learn the strike within 3 hours then farm the adept every 30 minutes. You can learn a GM quickly, you can't "get good" quickly. That's the difference between persistence based adepts from trials and GMs.

1 ReplyI think your comparison is a little off. I think an equalish comparison would be letting players have a chance to get nightfall ciphers from non-Gm runs, with a higher chance the higher the difficulty. With pricing for focusing both the base and adept being reasonable after unlocking them initially.

It's definitely a great idea with a similar time investment of the persistence card. I've also been wanting Adept legacy focusing to get implemented. The fomo of having to get a God roll Adept before its gone in 3 months is a pain point for me and I'm sure other people. And considering they've reissued weapons like Uzume that were already in the legacy focusing I don't think it'd interfere with anything. Heck, make it cost 20 or 25 ciphers for a first time purchase and 15 for repeats if Bungie insists.

I think it'd be nice. BUMP.

2 RepliesLet there be 2 drops. 1 of the featured and one random. Make people with a 7 win card work for their desired adepts. Since card of perseverance exists. We still have aspirational rewards for going flawless. I can live with that, however if the person going through the trouble can decide what the trouble is for, that would be huge. Destiny is almost at it end. Might as well

Adding the ciphers as rare drops to Master difficulties would also make it still grindy but fair, but i'd love a change like this considering the only GM's we've gotten the past few weeks have been Battlegrounds missions that are borderline impossible.

Sounds like a good idea . Wouldn’t make any difference to me, but would help many.

1 ReplyI like the Nightfall Cipher system they added and this season's ability to get them from a full coil run, hopefully they continue to add them to content like that. As for getting any players unable to currently beat a GM, that one would be hard to implement without being able to cheese the requirements, but I am sure Bungie could figure it out. Maybe some weekly bounty you could pick up from Zavala where you have to kill a number of Champions, and complete a number of Heroic Nightfalls to unlock the current week's Adept weapon? Possibly have the bounty disappear at reset like a Trials Passage, so you had to use it on that current week?

12 RepliesEdited by xbroggiex: 2/24/2024 4:51:51 AMConsidering ciphers drop from GM's as the main permanent source it doesn't really matter. Even if you "can" get ciphers from coil, it will be gone in a couple months and then its back to GMs as the sole source of ciphers. So ultimately it would be kind of pointless to unlock the adept focus option for getting the normal nightfall version. But tbh getting normal versions of Nightfall weapons is way easier in bulk than adepts so I'd rather lower the cipher cost of adepts to 2 ciphers from 10 and up the engram cost to 1 below normal Nightfall weapons if it isn't the same cost as normals already.
