Ulysses by James Joyce

I ended up reading this one. Simultaneously might be my favorite and least favorite read of the last year. It's an introspective novel about identity, journey, and vice. I would highly recommend to those who love literature with the caveat being that it gets extremely difficult to read, especially near the end. That's not a vocabulary or sentence structure thing, Let's just say, the book is experimental.

 • I've never read Ulysses, but had to read "The Dead" (from Dubliners) in HD and ended up reading the entire book for extra credit. I can understand Joyce's appeal to some, but it's not my thing. "Ulysses" by Alfred Lord Tennyson however, which I read for the same class, I tend to read a couple of times a year. "Tho' much is taken, much abides; and tho' We are not now that strength which in old days Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are; One equal temper of heroic hearts, Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield."
