The profanity filter for in game chat is completely broken. It is way too sensitive about many things that are relevant to in game actions, and it cannot be turned off, despite there being settings to turn it off.
When typing numbers into chat - for many different reasons, often keeping track of something in a raid encounter - the numbers just get turned into ### in chat.
Sometimes random words that are completely innocuous are filtered for no identifiable reason. Sometimes even the names of characters or enemies in the game.
This is a major accessibility issue because some people do not or can not participate in voice chat, and for those I have played with, in game text chat is how they work around that.

2 Repliesthats what a safe and inclusive world create ... everything is censored and the fun police will arrest you at the slightest "fun detected"

The world of text chat is so strange to me. Its like its something the new generation uses a ton, but its text from a phone from the 90s.

I think the filter only works when others send chat messages. If their settings are on but yours is off, then sending them messages will censor. I often see swearing be censored with #### playing with some randoms but the same word turn to “bless” with others. All i said was “-blam!- this strike” in reference to this weeks grandmaster after completing it lol.

2 RepliesIf you’re seeing otherwise innocuous words being censored in text chat, you can file a report about the words (and the context in which they were said) at the following link in order to improve the filter over time: https://help.bungie.net/hc/en-us/articles/21344091233940-Contact-Form-Feedback-for-Text-Based-Language-Filters (΄◉◞౪◟◉`)
