I’m a solo elitist who usually does coil alone, but lately I’ve been doing it with teams to see how they play. Man…it’s shocking the amount of players who just flat out don’t understand the mechanics, or how to even play effectively.
Below is a list of each pathway (order changes weekly but its always the same 4), and how to complete it without trouble:
-[b][i]DIVINING HALL[/i][/b]: this is scorn related, so put on your “from whence you came” artifact perk before anything, since it boosts your ability damage against Scorn and Taken. First room is either one of 2 things:
1)kill ads then kill the abomination 3x
2kill ads then kill the chieftains
The abomination portion is straight forward. Literally kill ads then kill the abomination.
The chieftain, however, is different. You must kill all ads (reach 100%) and then 3 torchbearers spawn. If you kill one, it drops a buff. [b][i]You must pick up the buff in order to damage the chieftain’s shield. The buff stacks up to 3x and the more buffs you have, the more damage you to do the shield[/i][/b]. The buff lasts 30 seconds and unless you go into the pool of light, you will die when the timer expires. The buff refreshes for each pick up. The chieftains have no health so it’s very easy to kill all 3 within 30 seconds
[b]BOSS[/b]: You will see an abomination and a huge chieftain with shields. This encounter is very similar to the previous one. Kill the torchbearers, pick up the buffs, [b][i][u]kill the abomination first[/u][/i][/b], and then you’ll be able to damage the boss. The pool of light to cleanse you is right where the abomination was. The DPS phase is extremely long, but if your DPS isn’t high enough, the boss will regain the shield and you have to repeat the steps again
-[b][i]FIRST STEPS QUEEN’S WRATH[/i][/b]: This is taken related. Keep that artifact perk on that allows you to do extra ability damage to taken, and also put taken specs on your weapons. First room is either 1 of 2 things:
1) Kill ads then kill the yellow bar knights
2) kill wizards to drop an orb that must be deposited
Both are pretty straight forward and don’t need too much explanation beyond that. I will say during the orb portion, there is a final phase in which you have to kill a yellow bar centurion, along with a group of ads. Nothing hard
[b]BOSS[/b]: as soon as you enter the room, you’ll see a huge Taken Orge with a shield, alongside a bunch of ads, and 3 yellow bar wizards. In order to remove the boss’ shield, you have to kill each wizard. These wizards should be the [b][u]main priority [/u][/b] as they are tanky and deal a lot of damage. You’ll also notice the wizards are usually in a pool of light. You’ll need to step in those every once in a while to refresh your debuff, or you’ll die from darkness. Once you remove the shield, you can damage the boss. Each chunk you take out of him spawns a group of ads and yellow bar centurion, but they aren’t anything tough. Once the boss gets to a little under half health, no more ads spawn and you can just go to town
[b][i]SENSORIUM[/i][/b]: Vex Related. First room is 1 of 2 things:
1) Kill all the ads then kill the hydra
2) Kill ads, then use arc canister to shoot boxes that releases a boss taken ogre to be killed
The hydra portion is pretty standard with no mechanics. Just be weary of chickens because there’s a bunch of them and they hurt
The Taken Orge portion can be a bit hectic, as there’s nonstop ads ( including a bunch of orange bar vex. Yes, chickens) on top of the boxes you need to shoot with the canisters. In order to get canisters, you must kill the shiny orange bar Minotaurs. They drop the canisters that must be used to break the boxes. There are arc shielded harpies that can be annoying during this time as well, but the canisters are arc and that can help. Once all the boxes are open, the taken orge will be free for damage. Kill it and the ads and you’re done
[b]BOSS[/b]: once you enter, it’s either going to be a shielded chicken or hydra. Both have the same mechanics during the fight which is similar to the last room you did. Kill the shiny Minotaurs, pick up their canister and shoot the boss with it to lower the shield. Once the shield is fully depleted, you can damage the boss. During damage phase, there’s a group of ads that spawn, including exploding supplicants. Be weary of them as they are the most dangerous thing besides the boss. The boss has 3 health gates on the health bar, and once you reach each of them, you get a message saying “detainment eminent”. [b][i][u]DO NOT GROUP UP WITH EACH OTHER DURING THIS TIME[/u][/i][/b], as you’ll each get detained and will need to break the detainment. If you’re grouped up, it’s very easy to wipe because the boss or ads can now you guys down. If your DPS is high enough, it’s possible to one phase, but if not, it’s shield will go back up and you have to do the process again
-[b][i]FIRST STEPS SYCOPHANT[/i][/b]: Taken related. Get that artifact mod and taken specs on. First room is either one of 2 things:
1) Kill ads then kill yellow bars
2) Kill wizards that drop an orb that must be deposited
This is literally the same as the other first step room and exact same mechanics
[b]BOSS[/b]: the very same boss as the other first step room, it’s just a taken knight instead of Orge this time. Exact same mechanics as the other first step boss
Congrats 🎉 You’ve now completed coil successfully. Enjoy the loot as it’s very generous, especially if you broke all the pots/collected glass and killed the glass collector
