• alright, after reading a little bit, i can belive that they are Navy on loan to Army, I guess the easyest way to think of them is Spess Mahrines, (Heehee) it would have been cool to see the marines in the back of the pelicans with BRs, but then I guess that would have messed up H1, would have been a nice little egg

 • SpecWarCom is jointly under ONI Beta-5 and Army. However, keep in mind that, in the Halo universe, Army is very likely but a small part of the UN-Space-C. It's possible that Naval ranking has, at some point in the 300 years of the UNSC being a spacefaring nation, replaced Army rankings due to the latter's increasing rarity and needless paperwork. Besides, in this universe, personnel of any branch can, and has been, reassigned to other branches without major implications. Army has commanded ODST forces in Halo3:ODST, Navy, I believe, has commanded Army forces in HaloWars, and in Halo:Reach Army (SpecWarCom more exactly) has commanded a Navy Spartan. Hell, ONE Oni Scientist TOOK Command over a 6-Spartan Team from Army with the flick of her wrist. It all generally points to either two things: 1: The UNSC in Halo universe enjoys a high amount of flexibility between armed forces. 2: Bungie couldn't give less of a -blam!-. • Navy Petty Officer Master Chief. That's a Navy rank. Watch the movie "G.I. Jane". The Navy SEAL drill instructor is ranked Master Chief.

 •
Posted by: FTG_War_Machine
they are in the navy, and as indisputable proof i say pay attention to their ranks.
The ranks used are army, navy uses ranks such as seaman and fleet admeral. Warren officer rank is exclusive to army i think.
I can't even take that seriously... there are no commanders in the army, that is a naval officer rank. and WARRANT officers are in all branches of military. • S-III's are Navy but Noble was Assigned to the UNSC Army while on Reach. an example is that Kat is a Lt. Commander (Navy Rank), this is a give away that there Navy. BUT as stated in the weapons page (weapons page for profile) the M392 DMR is only used by the UNSC Army. Basicly the system is a Mind Freek that is hard to understand

 • It is army. Read the description of the DMR. Only the Army branch still used the DMR at that time.

 • Almost all of you are wrong. Its a joint operations unit. Emile is ARMY. Noble six is actually NAVY. The rest vary. Kind of like TF 141 in MW2 Edit: PROOF = Country Unified Earth Government Allegiance United Nations Space Command Branch Joint operations unit Type Special Operations (Taken from the halopedia) [Edited on 11.07.2010 4:33 PM PST]

 •
Posted by: Yoozel All Spartans stem from NavSpecWar but it's evident that Nobel Team was directly assigned to army ground operations, most likely requisitioned by ONI for their priority ops that they partook in.
Posted by: Road Runner Navy, all Spartans are.

They are in the navy. The army does not have the ranks of CMDR or Lt. Cmdr etc. That does not, however, stop them from being attached to army units. This would put them under the command of army officers and also result in them being issued army weaponry.

 • Army, that's why you use different Human weapons as well. It's kinda strange why the Marines and ODST's that make appearance's also use Army weapons, as their both branched under the Marines.

 •
Posted by: Klogger
Posted by: TheMightyTurtle Navy guys. Why else would they be defending the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI)?
With being in Space, The Navy is now the biggest branch, so they have the most assets and funding, and I just think ONI is universal, Land, Air, Sea, and Space.
Then it would be the Office of Military Intelligence Sword Base.

 • Because their space operations are navy. In any sci-fi, space is considered navy.

 • All signs point to Army, SPECWARCOM is the special operations branch for the UNSC army which Nobel team was listed under.

 • To be honest, Noble 6's armor say's 'privatized' so I'm guessing a private part of the UNSC. To be techinal, sence everyone is a spartan three besides jorge I believe, they are part of ONI, or the Navy. Sence it was ONI members that stole the childern, I'd believe they still belong to ONI/the navy. But I got that off the wiki here. http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/SPARTAN-III_Program
