Honest take on the Peace Keepers nerf.

Maybe the exotic wasn't as much as the problem, maybe the weapon type? Like so many people were complaining about months ago? Weapon specific exotics that get under used, maybe because the weapons don't compete.... Seems logical to me.

No its the exotic, PKs still provide increased sprint speed and increased slide distance. Strafe speed is 87% of max strafe speed(with 30 mobility, 86% at 20mobility), and smg still have 60+AE. Dont forget the handling boosts as well. I think people are just not aware how little mobility provides to the point an exotic nearly caps out the strafe speed or do not know they provide similar effects as dune marchers on top of the smg bonuses.

  • Lucky pants buff handcannons and people use handcannons, doesn’t make people use them.

    • The nerf to PKs was long overdue. Titans get around twice as many SMG kills as Hunters or Warlocks (as a percentage of their Class' total kills). In other words, if 4% of Hunter kills are caused by an SMG, then 8% of Titan kills are caused by an SMG. *Source: Trials Report detailed data for Week 141 We don't have absolute usage rates for SMGs, just a percentage of total kills. Usually, the usage rate of PKs is GREATER THAN the percentage of SMG kills (compared to total kills). That's kind of wild. - Note that this data only applies to players who win over 90% of their games, who I will refer to later as "top players" *Source: Detailed Trials Report data for weeks 146, 141, 138, etc. Finally, Peacekeepers has been the most used Exotic for top players for every week I have ever seen (except for 1 weekend where Behemoth Titan was best due to handcannon perk and the Checkmate weekend) - that's around a year's worth of data. What is wild is that even when Antaus Wards was the go-to Exotic and it's general usage rate outstripped PK usage rate by a factor of 2, PKs were still the most used by top players! That's crazy! Source: Detailed Trials Report for multiple weeks - will have to check Twitter for earliest date Additionally, PK usage among top players remains basically constant and seems independent of SMG nerfs. SMGs were nerfed several times in the last year, but PK usage remained the same. I just thought that was odd. You would think that a nerf to SMGs would result in fewer players choosing to use PKs, but you would be wrong.

        • Smgs need to be nerfed and I agree that's the main problem with destiny 2 pvp but pk even with a balanced smgs is still a problem. It simply provides too much benefits. It can't both be a weapon and movement exotic. It's way overturned because smgs used to be underpowered

        • They're still really good because SMGs are really good and anything that makes using them better/easier will remain really good

        • Peacekeepers have been known to be very strong for a LONG time. Whenever smg's weren't doing well they basically single-handedly carried the weapon type. With smg's being more consistently in a good state now, an exotic that strong was always going to be a problem. The smg's were part of the problem too, but peacekeepers needed to be balanced or nothing was ever going to keep them down.

Peace Keepers were busted... Free 50 hidden mobility Free moving target, straffe speed Quick draw 100 handling Auto loading holster Outlaw 100 reload no head shot required Icarus grip free AE Then pair that with a SMG with moving Target actually on it, Target lock and a icarus grip mod on a void titan with an overshield running 2 targeting mods. Be realistic.. No PVP exotic ever has had that much going for it.

          • It's like a conveyor belt of nerfing when it comes to titans. You see complaints about 1 thing on titans in pvp, bungie nerfs it in pvp and pve and then people move on to try get some other titan thing get nerfed

          • On console, I feel like it wasn't really a problem, but I suspect they nerfed it because it will get a rework in lightfall, or there will be a new exotic smg that pairs with it.

I think it was both. You can't have an exotic that's overtuned everytime smgs are overtuned it a compounding problem. You either make smgs bad so peacekeepers are bad, or nerf peace keepers, so the sandbox isn't constantly tip toeing around them

          • I tried PKs during the last haunting event, and it was a hoot! 👻 After, I switched back to my regular vanilla T builds, which aren’t optimised builds by any stretch. When the next seasonal event comes along, I will probably dust off my Ts PKs and have at it; if they’re not good or not fun, then I’ll just use something else. BHQs 🃏 propensity to hype <this item> then, once there’s a decent take-up by the Community - they nerf <said item> into virtual obsolescence. And it’s usually driven by the PvP community. 🧐 The PvE community rarely complains about fun guns / armour perks…🫠 Go figure!? 🫤 Play fair! Play nice! Don’t quit! 👈 Ease springs! 🫡

          • If peacekeepers are “busted,” then why haven’t we seen calls for nerfs for it before? It’s not like it’s changed since it came out. But when smgs became too good, then people started crying for nerfs. Of course people are gonna use what buffs the current best weapons. This naturally lead to an influx of peacekeeper usage. Realistically, Bungie should’ve just nerfed to movement bonuses. Let it have max handling and auto loading holster (ophidians exist for all weapon types and auto loading/holster mods exist) Speed and movement is everything in the crucible, which is really where the problem came in. But if I’m being honest, I would’ve rather seen it get something like the lucky pants rework. Give it an intrinsic holster mod, better handling for smgs, and a buff to ae (this way it still has use in pvp). Then give it something like “getting kills with smgs boosts reload speed and stability. Stacks up to 4 times. Effect lasts until weapon is stowed” or something like that. Make it an add clear exotic.

          • Bungie LOVES TITANS and hates hunters and warlocks. So they probably shadow-buffed something else to keep Titans OP in PvP. Titans still need a movement nerf IMO. Double Icarus dash was to fast but titans are just as fast now and they do nothing.

            • My honest take on all PvP nerfs. Every time one happens, people just have to learn how to play "normally" again. Whatever the -blam!- that means...

SMGs were the bigger issue and still are. I would argue SMGs are a bigger issue than Thorn was, Striga and SMGs with Auto Lock have felt like the outliers. I've seen more SMGs and not just on Titans, then I have Thorn coming back. I tried pre nerf peacekeepers I found them lacking. I went back to the nerfed heart of inmost light because I still found it more useful.

              • Somewhat and i think the Peacekeeper nerf might have been a little too hard, but they definitely needed changes. 100% agree that SMGs need changes. As they are incredibly easy to use for how efficient they can be (talking about Agg and Precision frames specifically. Lightweights and Adaptives are in a good spot). This issue all started when Bungie started adding SMGs of these archetypes that didnt have the downsides that the rest of its archetype had. Every super-meta SMG we’ve had (Antiope, Shayura’s, Ikelos V3, Immortal, Tempest) all have stat values that make up for the weaknesses of their archetypes. Peacekeepers is the other half of that coin. Giving large bonuses to the usability stats of this weapon type along side one of the strongest Dueling functions in the game (increased strafe speed). All of these stats pre-nerf are significantly higher than Ophidians (which people also think are too good), and them being SMG only doesn’t really matter when SMGs are one of the top primary weapon types to begin with.
