Which exotic weapon to use?

I run with Xenophage a lot because it just tears down bosses. Feel like I should use a primary to get the most use. What do people consider an absolute must use? I know its situational , but in general. And no Witherhoard. Cheers

  • Polaris is really good for high-end content right now.

    • My three suggestions mainly focus on improved survivability as I’m a largely solo player for taking on Dungeons, Exotic Quests and activities like Coil; that said I do of course use a variety of other Exotics situationally. PRIMARY Rat King can be very helpful in situations where you are fighting lots of mobs at close to medium range. Being able to easily activate Invis (with an accompanying small Heal thanks to the Catalyst) regardless of your Subclass choice give you lots of opportunity to find breathing room to reposition and group your targets for more efficient AoE attacks. Has the extra benefit of improved gun stats when additional fireteam members join in with their own copy of the gun. SPECIAL Vexcalibur does decent ranged damage in situations where lining up precision hits might put you in danger, has decent shield strength that can be leveraged to grant yourself and nearby allies Overshields and pairs nicely with a few Melee-oriented Exotic Armor pieces. Due to recent buffs to Glaives in general, it now slowly generates Shield meter when held, giving you the option of occasionally using the Shield + Overshield functionality even through long stretches without enemies where you might wish to protect yourself and others from environmental damage. HEAVY I’ve gotten a lot of mileage out of Heartshadow w/ Catalyst the past 18 months, to the point that it is perhaps my go-to Exotic at this point. Once again, ready access to Invis regardless of your chosen Subclass is just good to have, and thankfully they recently reversed the “fix” that required you to land two separate heavy attacks to Weaken a target, bringing it back to how good it felt at launch. • This season I'm using Polaris Lance since when radiate it gives you auto piercing rounds instead of using a sidearm. Graviton Lance is great as well. In other words use Lancelot.
