Soteria IS the rug.

The rug is coming. [Theory... but possible spoilers] Note: The rug ties the room together.... Soteria is an AI developed by the Ishtar Collective, and I believe it's vital to our survival. It was split into fragments, I believe, to reassembled at the appropriate time. That time will be upon us soon. The fragments on their own are extremely powerful prediction engines... "engine", where have we heard that before. One fragment was aboard the Exodus Indigo that is now the city of Nenomuna on Neptune. One was stashed in the Vex collective... but we don't know where, it is believed to be accompanied by a copy of Chioma Esi's consciousness... as its caretaker and, it is my theory, as a guide for restoration of Soteria. I think this fragment is in
the Black Garden, and beyond disrupting the simulation the Vex had created to close the Pale Heart... it was Mara's goal. She wants it. She wanted ANOTHER fragment... Because she already has one. She stole it from Alis Li....
That 3rd fragment was on the Exodus Green (my theory)... given to Alis Li, 1st Queen of the Awoken by Maya Sundaresh. And Mara took it. It helped build the Dreaming City, the Oracle Engine is a derivative of it. I think... there's 4 fragments total. One has been right in front of our faces since Vanilla D2... on a different Exodus Ship that was a part of the Echo program created by Maya Sundaresh. Let's call it a "Failsafe". And who's ship is that? Soteria is the rug 😇 👍💠. Truly, you know what is also (per my theory), a derivative of Soteria? Rasputin... or was RIP. He was a corrupted derivative of Soteria... corrupted by Clovis Bray. Soteria IS the rug. SiVA is a derivative of Soteria, it's all rooted in Vex tech... brought to Maya Sundaresh by Subject 12. It was originally designed as a terraforming and building tool... for recolonization on distant worlds pending an inevitable collapse. The Echo Program was begun because of the revelations that came by way of Subject 12. And SiVA was a part of that collapse mitigation protocol. An addendum: As I write this I think I might be mistaken respective how many fragments there are.... I said 4. What if Rasputin and SiVA weren't derivative AI... even though the lore somewhat suggests that because Rasputin has its own derivatives... the subminds. What if they were full fragments of Soteria? Because that would make 6... but what about the Nine? That would be 7. And Bungie likes the number 7. What if I'm wrong about Failsafe as a fragment (still I believe she'll be integral to the process of Soteria's restoration)... BUT Savathun has a piece too? So, there's some variability to these theoretical conceits but I still think I'm close. AND, there's no doubt in my mind anymore.... Soteria IS the RUG 😇 👍💠! It will connect everything and everyone together.

  • That's an unpleasant metaphor. If she's the rug, then I'm the glue holding everything together.

    • What if failsafe is actually two fragments that merged together during the crash and over the centuries.? Might explain her bipolar nature.

      • I may be misremembering but wasn't Soteria originally stolen from the Vex immediately after she was created? The way it was explained it seemed as if it was a "baby" Vex Oracle that Maya and her team extracted from the Vex Network and turned into a Golden Age AI used as a prediction engine. As I understand it, currently Soteria exists in 3 places: a portion slumbering on Neomuna in the Cloud Ark, a fragment removed from the Mars Pillory site into the exotic Hierarchy of Needs bow, and the rest deleted/reintegrated into the Vex Network by the Vex attacking the Mars Pillory site. I don't believe any of those 3 could reintegrate without issue as they took divergent paths and specifically for HoN, her consciousness was stripped down to basic functions to survive.

Really wonder how this weeks story of Mara Sov actively developing as a character and learning to let Crow make his own decisions at the risk of losing her brother forever fits into her evil plan. Kinda funny we never got a post about this weeks story from you. But in terms of this post, here comes the usual short list. Soteria wasn’t split into several fragments, it split off a singular fragment to guide one and only one of the colony ships away. The rest of Soteria ended up in the Spire we see in the Spire of the Watcher dungeon, successfully captured by Clovis Bray after going rogue. SIVA and Rasputin were developed separately at Braytech, the former spearheaded by Willa Bray while the latter was iterated on by Ana Bray after her grandfathers attention was pulled elsewhere by the Exo project. Rasputin technically predates the Golden Age given he was based off of the R A.I. designed for the Ares One mission. Soteria was created by the Ishtar Collective using Vex technology, which is why the Vex on Neomuna and the Spire of the Watcher dungeon show such an interest in the A.I. They are seeking to reintegrate what they see as one of their own. There is no mention of further fragmentation. Edit: Also Subject 12 is still nothing more than a captured Vex unit the Ishtar Collective studied, not some divine blessing bearing gifts. The only thing that unit did was drive the research team to paranoia about there own existence until they used the Warmind to overpower the unit and wrestle free their simulated copies.
