What is your guys' opinions on these 2 types of ways of building. Which one is easier to understand? Which one was more Unique? Which ones do you personally prefer?
In my opinion, I think Elemental Wells were a lot more fun to play around with, and made Ability builds a lot more powerful. Armor charges just dont scratch that same itch, personally

I think both are kind of barebones and too simple. What i would really like is the Gambit Prime armor sets back but for other builds/ game modes…

7 RepliesEasy to understand? It goes to Armor Charges. People fall back on Elemental Wells being super powerful but disregard the fact that bungie would’ve nerfed it. Maybe even to the values we have now or worse due to abundance of wells. Warmind Cells for instance. Could clear rooms and bungie nerfed them. And if they weren’t nerfed, people would’ve hardly touched the Elemental Wells builds bc they’d be overshadowed.

The wells were great. Don't like the charge system that much.

Wells > Charges I had actually fun buildcrafing back then

Considering people use nothing but surges... nothing has changed

I felt like I could build better with Elemental Wells. I also thought I could see in game how it was effecting my guardian and gameplay more so then Armor Charges. IMO, nerfs to abilities makes it even harder to understand if the armor charges are doing anything. Personally I miss all of the ways we had to build-craft before armor charges.

2 RepliesElemental Wells were awesome. I didn't have to chase them so I could keep the flow going, and they were great for abilities. One of the best things we've ever gotten in Destiny, so of course it had to be taken, because they were fun. Bungie doesn't want players having fun. I don't even build for Orbs of Light anymore because they are pretty much pointless now. I spent an entire day observing Orb collection with an orb build, and the energy gain is so minimal you can barely tell you're getting anything out of it. Not worth the expensive cost to slot it in the armor at all. That crap is so weak everything should only cost one point in slot, then its reasonable. Minimal cost, for minimal gains. Armor charges just don't seem too great either. I mean, we get armor charge without equipping anything, so that just devalues the mods that give charges. Currently I'm just building with energy gains on ability use, combined with the right exotics and aspects, and that's where I'm seeing, by far the best gains for abilities. I don't have to accumulate any stacks or anything; just charge abilities with other abilities. Bet that will be wrecked soon, too. Maybe it was Bungle's way of pushing people to use more exotics and push equipment diversity with all the reworks or something, but it would be pretty stupid if they're just going to crash builds that badly. Kind of defeats the purpose of the game's core functionality that sets it apart more.

3 RepliesI used to prefer elemental wells but now I prefer the new system. It’s easy to pick up orbs of power to keep the effect going. The only thing I wish Bungie would do is add a small ability regen buff when picking up orbs, just like they give super energy. Elemental wells gave a small amount of ability energy which is what is missing from the current system.

Both are fine for me. I think I prefer elemental wells for their looks, both systems have their pros and cons.
