While it's self-explanatory, snowballs during the dawning are a blast (especially when fully upgraded). However, I suddenly got curious. With last season, we got introduced to elemental orbs, these orbs (which include Tangles) when picked up could activate Collective Action. I went to pick up a snowball to see if they would also activate the trait and nothing happened.
Then it got me thinking, why not take the idea of the snowballs and tie a permanent subclass pickup? Obviously, the snowballs by default are weak, and it's more festive, so why not make an entire different pick up?
Stasis Shards feel unless to me, especially with the idea that an aspect is required to use and generate them. Only Fragment of Rime gives them a decent use, but not something I often use for any of my Stasis builds.
So here is my idea: "Stasis Splinters"
Stasis Splinters are like Tangles, killing a slowed or frozen target will generate a Stasis Splinter. Unlike Diamond Lances, they can be thrown but only for a slowing area of effect. At the same time, take a page out of Ruinous Effigy's Transmutation Orbs, where you can slam the Stasis Splinter into the ground and do a freezing AoE (or if already frozen, shatter the frozen enemies).
Each class can come with aspects (similar to all the Tangle related aspects Strand has).
Titan: Upon throwing or slamming a Stasis Splinter will plant the Splinter into the ground as it shoots out small Stasis "Hail" (this is inspired by the "Hail the Storm" artifact perk this season) damaging, slowing, and if tanky enough, freezing them.
Hunter: Upon throwing or slamming a Stasis Splinter, it will create a freezing AoE that'll slow enemies and eventually freeze them overtime. Additionally, any Withering Blades (Hunter Stasis Melee) will orbit said Splinter and bounce to any nearby enemies until the Splinter's time runs out.
Warlock: Upon throwing or slamming a Stasis Splinter, it will shatter and spread itself across the ground. It will send out periodic pulses of freezing to nearby targets.
Most of the changes this season to Stasis (at base, with no consideration of the artifact perks) were lack luster and posed no upbringing of the Stasis Subclass. Perhaps future Stasis buffs will change that? We'll just have to wait and see.
