Spectral Blades is so weak

Everything about the roaming super Spectral Blades for the hunter subclass revenant is so bad. The movement is so much slower than the arc or strand subclass and the damage resistance is almost non existence. The hit box for someone using spectral blades is so big you can easily put the super down with nothing but a primary. The cooldown is too long and makes it even more useless to use. Don’t understand why when they’re building hunter subclasses bungie just wants to make it as hard as possible to compete with different characters.

  • Spectral Blades used to TERRORIZE crucible back in year 2. I used to be able to wipe an entire team of six with it.And then PvP players did what PvP players do: whined. So Bungie gave it a series of nerfs that has left it pretty much dead.

    • You lost me at slow movement. All hunter and titan roaming supers need their movement heavily nerfed, especially that ridiculous lunge distance from each light attack you spam.

    • The issue is some of the supers haven't been tuned up to actually embody the 3.0 class The need another base damage buff to yellow and majors Spectral Blade should get a major buff with a small rework Options *"while invisible all enemies in close proximity becomes weakening and volatile" "New animation" *"Jump and slam the ground with your blades makes enemies in the area Volatile" *"While invisible consistent tracking spectral blades shoots out and weakens nearby enemies"

I wouldn’t say its all bad, its one of the best roaming ones in pvp to be honest but it takes way too long to get and it runs out really fast unless you have the exotic chest piece. The super is not about being able to take a ton of damage, you are supposed to go invisible to disappear from enemy radar and then sneak up on them. If that super had more armor on top of the invisibility then it would break pvp. As for pve, yikes this super needs a massive damage buff. No hiding behind the bush, the hit registration is awful in pve and the damage is laughable. This super has needed a pve super for years now.

        • It could be decent if they added volatile to all attacks and maybe the heavy attack could create a suction void explosion just like the exotic linear fusion rifle. Both would buff its pve damage and add clear potential without making it OP in pvp.

        • Its always been weak. It was weaker when it was released. Sure it lasted 2x as long and had 2x as much damage resist . But it needed 3 hits to kill a red health hive boomer on the same level as you. Now it needs 2 hits🤣

          • It would be great if they turned it into a anti-champion super. Then it would fit the assassin vibe they wanted where you could pop, it sneak over, take out the champ, then sneak back to cover.

          • As a warlock main, I have seen nobody use spectral in PvE, and one absolute monster who used it in PvP and somehow killed a dawnblade user. (He’s a -blam!- exception) “Conclusion: Spectral is terrible, let’s nerf synthoceps!” -Bungie, probably

            • Well it's ok in pvp but that's where it ends. I think spectral blades to Hunters are like what stasis is to a titan

            • Replace the heavy attack with a slam where the purple spikes spring up from the ground like in the hive strikes.

            • The main problem with it is that you only get full duration and resistance while invisible, which requires heavy attacks, dodge, or killing void debuffed enemies (which SB can't create) to proc. With the fragment that causes explosions on ability kills, it should have ad clear potential, but that's it. If you're wanting damage on a melee hunter super, you're better off with Arc Staff or Silk Strike, and both have better ad clear as well as mobility and survivability. What it needs is to get back the resistance and duration as well as more speed and either proc the fragment that makes enemies volatile on finisher to apply on any SB kill proc Vanishing Strike. Lastly, it needs more exotics to synergize with it. Gwisin isn't worth using unless you're getting like 3 fast kills after starting the attack. There are better options for supers if you're going to use Star Eater. And if you're looking for ad clear, you don't even need a super, just put on Caliban or something.

            • Bungie: We’ve had to nerf it in the ground over multiple Seasons and Years of play. Too many whiny Titans and Warlocks.

              • They should make it an pve super that can do high single target burst damage.

              • All void hunter supers without taking extreme care are pretty much suicidal in PVP. I can only assume that the dev's consider void invisibility to be it's own super power. I don't use Spectral blades it's possible in some situations to grab a few kills for sure but I tended to just stick with the utility of using void anchors as blockers. (Can't be trusted to put down oncoming guardian let alone roaming super)

The worst part is that it’s a stealth super that is garbage at being stealthy. It’s so easy to see, hear, and kill. All that and it’s still garbage in PvE too. The super feels out of place in both PvP and PvE. I use the super purely for aesthetic and nostalgic purposes.

                  • The few things I can say about it is having invis for that long is not totally useless (just almost useless lol) and in a team setting, wall hacks callouts are pretty handy, makes it great for baiting other supers if you’re clever. Should do increased damage when coming out of invis for a short period (make it great at bursting down a champ or two or a few majors) and just improve the hit reg a bit (if at all possible). The hit registration kills the super in crucible. Even if it had perfect hit reg, it still lacks mobility, has a long cooldown, and the invis barely functions due to the visual and audio effects that give it away. I get that having unconditional wall hacks across the map is very strong and so the super simply shouldn’t be on par with other similar ones, but it needs some help right now.

                    • There's been some calls for the roaming supers to come back in a big way. 6 kills with spectral blades or arc titan wasn't unheard of back when roaming supers roamed the sandbox. It happened quite often, and it would probably be somewhat annoying if it came back without having it so the "panic" supers could shut them down. The game has actually had both. Roaming supers that couldn't be shut down by panic supers and roaming supers that could. The second option is probably the one they should go with if those supers come back. It might be a better way to ensure people get a certain number of kills than some of the other ways.
