Shader mementos for holiday events is a terrible idea
The mementos for the holiday events should just be shaders you unlock during the event. Having them locked behind some sort of random drop rate makes them more exclusive to the players that have more time to invest. This is contrary to the idea of the all inclusive holiday event that everyone can play and enjoy. Also, it appears that I have to now trade farming rolls on weapons or farming the memento shader.

At least we didn't need to grind one specific activity for the Dawning's Memento. I had zero urge to go into Haunted Lost Sectors after I gilded the Title.

Correct. It should be something like “2023 dawning shader” or something like that.

I'm sure Bungie will now give us mementos every Holiday event. It's a easy quest to get them too.

you dont like grinding for a limited time one-time use shader that you can only put on a handful of guns that bungie is more than happy to ignore?

Bungie now: How about we introduce mementos, which will be consumable shaders that only work on crafted weapons. And they will drop from NFs, Trials, and Gambit even though all the weapons from those activities aren’t craftable. And later we can add them to events, which also don’t have craftable weapons either. The inconsistency of player agency for weapon chases, the needless inferiority of so many weapons in the sandbox by not making them craftable so they have access to enhanced perks, and what you can do with said weapons when you get them is just…..staggeringly inconsistent at this point. It’s just so beyond frustrating. The game is just so…..ugly, at the moment. Disorganized and inconsistent.

its the only way to get you to play the Event's now. Bungie is hurting for Players and Money. I'm surprised that they didn't stick them behind Pay Walls and cause WW3. Imagine All Black in the Eververse Store...WW3.

13 RepliesYou make it sound like they are hard to get. After you do the quest to get the first, others tend to drop often. This is another example of people doing their fav thing with the game: complaining, lol.

Totally agree. It’s just FOMO in another guise. I missed Halloween and now can’t get the nicest memento/shader in the game (in my opinion).

It's not a bad percentage drop, I'm not doing much and I've had like 6 drop? It's got to be like a 25% drop rate. With the guns pretty much the same and the glave very blah, I've been doing nothing but turning in my presents.

The toxic trait of grievances like this is you complain about The Thing in the thread title, but in the thread we find that it's not about The Thing itself - it's that you [i]want[/i] The Thing and don't like whatever means Bungie conjured up to get The Thing. ...But it's the fact that you want The Thing that assures Bungie that their various busywork validates the supposed value of The Thing. If players had more discernment about The Things, you'd find that they become a breeze to collect because Bungie values The Thing based on... threads like this.

You're the one choosing to do that. One would be enough since its tied to the event otherwise. One is enough for me. I got two of the last one. Not sure what the issue really is unless you just really want what you want.

5 RepliesThey drop pretty commonly. I've used 7 or 8, and now each character has one in the postmaster and I have a 4th in my inventory. They seem to drop 1 memento for every 6 Gift on Returns you open. Roughly.
