The Coil Revive System is a Fail...

Especially since your player population is at an all time low. What's happening to me is I keep getting put into a already playing fireteam that does not have all their revives or none at all. Even after leaving back to orbit them reentering I end up back in the same predicament or the same fireteam. My suggestion is to just get rid of the revive system. You're taking the fun out of the game by putting in all these hoops to jump through. We have enough as it is.

  • This is the risk-reward activity, don't go trying to fundamentally change what makes it.lucrative to guarantee yourself the most loot for minimal effort. It can be done solo very easily, I've joined very late in 1 with barely any revives but turned it into a 15 min platinum run.

    • It's just another activity that Bungie -blam!- up and had oversight in. It shouldn't cost revives to spawn in as you shouldn't spawn in dead. And it shouldn't count you observing as inactivity. But they also add in stupid modifiers like "togetherness" 🙄.

    • I don't think I ever run out of revives in the coil. Not even close. But I always run with a fire team.

      • Only issue with revives is it shouldn’t take one for me (or anyone else) to enter the game. If you are out in mid game that should not take a revive!! Literally just joined a game which was right near the end and they had two revives - me joining the game took one of those! That’s just daft!! 🤷🏻‍♂️

          Its the player base not the activity. I did a run just yesterday where I never died & we had 1 revive token left(I also had to buy 4 revive tokens for the randos that bought none). Additionally Ive yet to do a single match made run where I dont single handedly kill the glass collector. Take the blinders off, its not hard. It was the same issue with T7 Deep Dives, some players just cant hack it.

          • I see a fix here, allow matchmaking at the start and either disable join-in-progress on no lives, or disable join-in-progress in Coil entirely, the failures will wash out and those that play smart and learn can still get loot. On the other hand harder content has a purpose and creates learning opportunities, paired with the simplicity of Fireteam Finder and clans existing, simple resources at anyones disposal to make teams with.

              People blaming players really have no idea. Fine, you have the reflexes to avoid the traps or get to cover after getting shot once and going to critical health. That still doesn’t make revive tokens in a match made activity a good idea. If it takes longer for my team of randoms to complete, fine. Just don’t make it a waste of time.

                I'm confused. How are players dying so much that they use up all 15+ revive tokens? Shouldn't that be a sign they are doing something terribly wrong to be getting bodied that many times?

              • Have done a few Coil runs as solo and MM, each has its own unique problems. Solo - it’s fun to gather the shards from cracking the pots; beating the traps; looting the chests, all at my own pace. I do fine until the boss fight as I’m simply overwhelmed and, underpowered - it seems. I’m not an optimised setup builder though what I have is fairly strong on a ‘vanilla’ scale. My weapons are also very good. But, the flood of overtuned enemies + the <do this> whilst <doing that> mechanics + being impeded at every turn by lag / latency / other built-in throttling enhancements - makes it seem the game is rigged and therefore, not fun!🧐 MM - joining a game ‘in play’ with 2 or even just 1 teammate, at any point and on any level, which means that most of the jars / shards are gone, the chests - same; and it’s a struggle to stay alive - usually at a final boss fight at any level, which usually ends with the teammate(s) bouncing asap! So, I too must bounce and start a fresh MM run…to see if I’m going to simply repeat the process again?! 🫤 Occasionally, I land on a duo of super good dudes who breeze through a level and make sure I’m not left behind! ✅✅✅ More likely, it’s a pair of speedsters 🤡🤡 racing ahead, doing everything, then racing ahead some more, then dying…waiting for me to catch up and revive them, so they can speed off once again! ❌❌ Nah! I don’t stay long if I see that’s their game! 🙄 Anyhoo, just my 2d worth. YMMV. Play fair! Play nice! 👈 Ease springs! 🫡

                  You need a better survivability build. You’re Warlock main and have fantastic healing and survival capabilities at your disposal. Instead of referring to the revive system as an epic fail maybe research a better build to solve your issue. And for Christ’s sake, use your healing rift.

                • Just to play devil’s advocate here- I got one actually really like the revive system. I do agree it sucks with matchmade teams. Usually an LFG or friends is better. I just appreciate that there is finally some amount of stakes and difficulty to the seasonal activity. Been sleeping through the last few. With a good team, it’s a good time.

                  • A revive system is inappropriate for the Coil activity. It is included only to increase and waste a player's time. Previous seasonal activity did not include limited revives, which is proof that Bungie is wasting our time again this season.

                    • To me it's the randoms dying so frequently. It is difficult to keep focused after we're all out of revives in the final part of the coil and I have to play passively as heck, or simply cut my losses and try again from scratch cause I don't want to spend 40 minutes trying to get the last stretch done.

                    • No, it's not. You get 21 to start, can find and buy more as you go. That's plenty to finish full runs. What I'm saying is it's the players, not the system.

                        • I’ve had two instances where I had to solo the final boss because my blueberries bit the dust and we ran out of revives, I always succeeded at this because I am very handsome and the enemies get too distracted at my good looks.

                          • I feel your frustration so I decided to run solo and although it can take a while I can take my time to get all the chests and preserve the revives. I have never failed to platinum a run since going solo. ;) It's one of the better seasonal activities Bungie has produced which makes it bearable to grind.

                            • Revives aren't really an issue if you have 3 competent people play the objective, real issue is finding 3 competent people in matchmaking Check loadouts when you loading in, if it's not something you think will work load right into a new one. If you have someone die several times in the first path load into a new activity.
