Coldsnap hell, behemoth slide melee, glacial grenade spam, shatterdive atomic nukes (also thanks to the artifact), penumbral blast, rifts freezing through walls, and the aoe freeze radius on all of these abilities. Insanity.
I still can't wrap my head around how any single one of you devs thought it would be a good idea, and a fair and balanced idea at that, to make numerous abilities that completely immobilize ppl in pvp.
Anytime I see someone running stasis in pvp, I know they're compensating for a lack of any real skill.

Stasis in general made pvp more misarable. Many good players quit soon after stasis came out.
-
1 ReplyIt's only a small snapshot, but Stasis has the second-lowest usage rate in Trials this week, only beating Arc by 0.7%. Strand has about 2x as many players using it, while Solar and Void are approach 3x. For the record, despite most complaints about Stasis nowadays relating to Shadebinder, it's actually Revenant that has the highest usage.

I think people need to look past the idea that PvP is supposed to be skill focused and well balanced. So much “space magic” has been added over the years, it’s only moved further away from that. I’ve no idea what the Checkmate experiment will result in (my preference is for a single playlist with longer cooldowns), but this game must be an absolute nightmare to balance when you consider everything in play. To enjoy Destiny PvP, one must embrace the chaos.

15 RepliesI have a solution.
delete crucible. Then the PvE can stop being held back
-
Wow who could have seen this coming?
-
21 RepliesThings plaguing the crucible: 1. Threadling spam 2. Overshield spam 3. Fusions 4. SMGs 87. Stasis being unnerfed Lmao get over yourself
-
14 RepliesEspecially those Warlocks running coldsnap grenades eh? Like yours for instance?
-
being a trials main it really is the cheesiest no skill thing you can use. yea, just throw a coldsnap and anyone within a 30-meter radius is disabled for a free melee. funny thing is you can be floating high in the air and still get frozen from a coldsnap.
-
3 RepliesCan't blame titans this time, our stasis is long dead and no buffs. Warlocks are starting to use there's again with the turret tough. Hunters still get used
-
3 RepliesColdsnaps straight up turn invisible sometimes and chain from target to target without even freezing them, often freezing the same player more than once. And this doesn't even mention Osmiomancy.
-
Stop assuming everything that kills you is Bungie's fault. Stasis is still godawful even with those tiny "buffs". I agree the subclass wasn't thought out AT ALL, but it's been almost useless for two years now and still is.

Crying about crowd control. Just get good.

Gonna be real here, played quite a bit of comp and trials so far this season and can probably count on one hand the number of people I've seen using stasis 🤷♂️
-
Destiny community: No 1 shots, stuns, hunter dodging, healing, overshields, or barricades allowed. So... Turn Destiny into Call of Duty then?
-
It isn't Stasis 'buffs', they simply unnerfed Stasis, not even all the way though, its not the Beyond Light level of Stasis shenanigans.
-
2 RepliesMay I ask... in real life do you find yourself lackluster? Perhaps lackadaisical? Lame even?

Edited by Big Ox: 12/16/2023 12:32:52 PMI run it for laughs tbh. Getting frozen is infuriating but the flip side, the shattering explosion is singing jingle bells in my ear. Really though stasis was dead in pvp (very few exceptions, numbers didn't lie) as much as i raged about shattering originally it needed to be brought up with other light sub classes. Adapt and play distance and bait. There are so many counters now than there were pre 3.0 classes.

1 ReplyStasis cant be balanced for pvp, it’s never gonna happen. Even strand is impossible to balance with suspend. Anything that immobilizes players will always break pvp, the only thing bungie can do is only allow a small amount of slow instead of the full effect. Thats the only thing they can work with
-
I hope people are loving the Stasis in Control and maybe also Comp.

That's quite a cold take (I'd say hot take but it's stasis not solar aha...ha...sorry I'll leave) It's kinda crazy cuz stasis has been at the bottom of the subclass barrel for quite some time. I think warlock was kinda the only viable one. hunters being the second but only really viable when using bakris or renewal. and titans were laughably bad. after all the nerfs they received they were arguably so much worse than every other subclass post 3.0 updates. They have almost no kill potential without a setup. You're complaining about shatterdive? Really? We are so past the point of that being OP. It'll never get you a triple kill from 2 miles away even with the artifact buff ever again. You have to be so precise with where you throw the nade. the artifact just makes it a tad more forgiving. None of the grenades do any actual damage on their own. duskfield is too small without renewal grasps. Glacial isn't a damage grenade at all 90% of the time. And I've seen just as many coldsnaps wiff their target as they've done their actual job. Titan melee has done virtually nothing for over a year (at the minimum I'm sure its been longer). But hey guess what, new buffs and artifact synergies means that's what bungie wants us to play. So people do just that, so you'll see an influx of people using stasis. Sorry stasis ain't your cup of tea, but it's so far from being any worse than the other subclasses at this point.

Stasis is obviously tricky to balance. Personally, I’ve always found it incredibly jarring in PvP because its very design is to break the flow of the game - so the only way it’s been able to sit in the meta is by having it massively underperform. Now that it’s been slightly buffed, it has jumped straight back to being frustrating.

5 RepliesEdited by Gemini Trash: 12/16/2023 2:04:45 PMThe easiest and best possible fix would be to make guardians immune to guardian based freeze abilities. Glacials should slow players in proximity and if you hit a player directly the grenade should instantly shatter. Slow effects in PvP are more than enough in my opinion Edit: I meant have abilities that would freeze instantly shatter so there's no detainment periods. I didn't explain that well, but I tried with the Glacial Grenade example. Have it be somewhat skilled but having only direct hits shatter while proximity effects slow.

3 RepliesThe community has been asking for stasis to get buffed, so bungie just abliged. Wanna blame someone, blame the community.
-
Next time people on the board start screaming “BUFF STASIS” bungie should ignore them. Unfortunately it looks to be getting worse with the upcoming introduction of this new “frost armor” which looks to be like woven mail.

Stasis warlock is by far the most annoying.
