Honestly wondering why Bungie thinks I’d buy a PvP game they’re making when their current PvP experience is so abysmal.
Please Bungie, explain why you think you’ve garnered enough good will to make a player want to try your PvP game?

There is a skill issue at Bungie. They are just not good at PvP. I would love it if they proved me wrong but they can’t because there is a skill issue.
-
I thought marathon was free.

I will never preorder another Bungie game ever again. I may never purchase a Bungie game again. So many terrible decisions with D2 that continue to today. I could ramble on about my doscontent toward Bungie for a long while. I loved D1. Loved the idea of it all. Ive loved D2 at times. The fact remains..I cant trust them enough for me to get involved in another one of their titles. It saddens me.

Destiny 2 is Lackluster. Why would you buy Marathon?
-
1 ReplyThere are 2 core problems with Destiny pvp: -Abilities exist as a main selling point for the game. “It’s like any fps game, but this time with space magic!” -Trying to balance pve and pvp. With 2 separate modes, different weapons and abilities are going to preform differently.

5 RepliesMarathon isn't going to be the same game Destiny is... You shouldn't buy Marathon (or not) based on Destiny. You should buy (or not) Marathon based on what you see about Marathon. It's a completely different IP, game, even genre. "It's pvp game so I can compare to other game that has pvp" is something I would rethink lol.
-
This is a PvE focussed game. The PvP portion has been incredibly successful considering. I’m really interested to see what they can produce when they focus on PvP. Only time will tell how Marathon turns out. I’ll wait to see it before making my decision.

It will be yet another game pitched as competitive…. Yet they will crank up controller aim assist on pc to ridiculous levels

Edited by A_mo: 12/15/2023 3:37:13 PMThe overall lacklustricity of the PvP is actually due to catering to this game's player population more than anything. They're not going to garner good will from a large portion of the Destiny player base by making PvP a larger draw for this game than a lot of PvE stuff would be most of the time. PvP would just be a better daily draw than a lot of PvE things. There would be the potential that Destiny could become a PvP game and that's just never going to be allowed to happen. The good thing about that is that a lot of people that are fans of PvPs in general probably aren't playing this and so there's an opportunity there to give them something to play too. Just like after Halo was over they gave the current Destiny player base something to play even though Halo was not as sustained by the PvE part of the game. If I were them I wouldn't be worried about any part of the Destiny player base other than the people that like PvP. A lot of people just do not like PvP that play this game, even some of the ones that play it regularly to get stuff. There's a lot of things Marathon won't be restricted from doing like having a reward system that's more based on actual human skills than equity. I like seeing things function that are based on either one. And that's probably true for a lot of people out there. And those are the people that will play Marathon.

1 ReplyToo early to tell, but if Marathon is not mostly filled full of cheap space magic that one shot everyone and OP weapons that one shot everyone, it would be a better PvP experience compared to Destiny.
-
Marathon will be new and very different, and just might not be set for a D2 target audience so much as a PVP-Gamer audience as a whole. D2 ≠ Marathon Potatoes ≠ Tomatoes
-
9 RepliesIdk, I’m so sick of extraction shooters, and live service games anyways. Don’t think I’ll touch marathon. I know gaming is moving towards always live service. So players like me will probably fade.
-
I have a feeling marathon will fail hard.
-
3 Replies1) No one is forcing you to buy anything 2) Destiny has a lot of good things going for it, but it's potential is crippled by the lack of dedicated servers. Marathon fixes this issue among many others (new maps, fewer cheaters, (hopefully) better balancing)

32 RepliesAfter what they did with this mess of an empty game, I ain’t buying any of their hollow turds. Bwahahahahahaha!!! Welcome to hollowness!

Lackluster is being really generous.... Complete lack of managing/policing the environment has me completely turned off to anything pvp related bungLe does now or in the future. -Garbage architecture from the start of Destiny (outdated even by 2014 standards) -0 meaningful management of pvp exploits/cheating in destiny or destiny 2 -rewards and xp progression totally weighted to give incentive to cheaters even at a minimum to avoid slogging through boring lopsided matches any longer than absolutely required. -obviously 0 play testing on maps for different game types

So… your PvP is lackluster. Why would I buy Marathon?
"That Detective, is the right Question"- IRobot

You underestimate how many ride for Bungie. They’ll play whatever they put out without second thought.

Edited by TheShadow: 12/15/2023 2:20:13 PM
Please Bungie, explain why you think you’ve garnered enough good will to make a player want to try your PvP game?
The fact that you think they need anything from anyone knowing you play Destiny PvP says enough. You have proven to them that no matter how bad things get you will still play🤷♂️ They are not worried because they know how to manipulate people, and this community is 100% proof of that. Oh, and watch how their streamer buddies will be out in full force to help sell it. I love how they lie, this business must be taking really good care of them seeing how much they have helped this business lie about this game.

I'm hoping for less of a certain kind of clownery. And more of a different kind.
-
They don't need goodwill, just a good sale or trial period, and people will try it out no problem. They do need to think through some of their PvP modes and map designs, though. How some of these get approved with what seems to be very little thought of how it will play outside of the limits of thier playtest environments doesn't inspire confidence though. New comp mode with the bombs is terrible in a matchmade environment. Just take every objective mode out of comp or let peole people vote if they want to put any in at all.

Not getting Matathon out of principle!!
