Edited by A_mo: 12/17/2023 3:47:19 PMThat might be because some people would get mad if their kids were on the internet with that or something. Other than that it really doesn't make very much sense to monitor the cursing of people that know each other. And if you don't know someone and they curse at you then you apparently have the power to turn it off yourself. I don't used text chat so I don't really understand when people will be flipping out and then there's the Earth shattering text on the screen that's usually pretty embarrassing (or funny, depending on your sense of humor) to be showing people regardless of who was right or wrong. A lot of times it looks like people wrote down a "conversation" when they got cut off while driving. "He said eff you but just ignore the part where I said eff you back because he was in the wrong if you keep reading."

Edited by piratepatchy243: 12/17/2023 12:54:09 PMYeah the filter is a bit much and they're just words so why, but you don't need profanity to insult someone. Creative insults hurt many here more, and for the most part those sensitive getting so triggered by it is amazing entertainment. Now there have been results that lead to me getting a forum ban, and for sure I've been in the wrong but some have also led to actual discussions.
Btw this is wierdest censor I had in a combination of words( what was said wasn't offensive in any way ). I'm trying to remember the second word I said but the first was who with the next word staring with re. Since they were only separated by a space it was censored. -blam!- Yup still a thing
Wish I could censor the political b.s they keep trying to shove down on us. I really could care less for their genders and beliefs. Just want to play the game...

Edited by Cal O'Mari: 12/15/2023 7:38:37 AMThey are overzealous with this stuff, for sure. Most businesses are though. Its a standard of the incredibly weak-minded society we currently live in. The 90s really helped that one. Parents were always up in mass arms about how dangerous words are, and how dangerous videogame violence is. I remember all the news droning on about it. Its all complete bullshit. Those people are the true reason things have progressed like this, and the current dystopia of P.C. nonsense only severely exacerbates this further. People need to grow up. Words are words, they only affect us when we let them, and its fine, we all have things we don't appreciate, but anyone censoring words can't be trusted, and if they're offended, ok, but it doesn't mean anyone else has to pay the price. If they make others pay the price well, actions should have equal consequences to ensure they know where they messed up. If they're that offended they can remove themselves from the conversation, and go brood about it somewhere else. The option for people to flip a switch and censor "curse" words for themselves alone, is valid in games, as they're meant to reach masses with different views, but it shouldn't be the imposed default.

This is what happens when the cry babies are the loudest voice in the room. If a single feeling could get hurt bungie has to make sure that potential hurt feeling doesn’t get hurt.

1 ReplyThis is why hopefully half the staff got canned, soyboybetacucks. And they have no reason to be in gaming…period….and when I say this I’m being very vague, talking men and women and definitely all the “things” in between.
