“Camper” seems to be some kind of slur, but I love camping and I wonder who else does.
The reason I love it is because I enjoy using a variety of tactics:
Run & gun, flank, lone wolf, team up, teamshot, camping, etc, any combination of these things — it’s all good fun as far as I’m concerned.
Some of my favourite memories of D1/D2 are those tense standoffs in Elimination — both teams holding their positions until… a kill, a flank, a mistake, something… and it all kicks off.
Various game modes exist to encourage different types of engagement (including camping). I’m one of those weirdos who enjoys defending a zone/bomb/rift. (I tend to enjoy objective modes, but that’s a whole other can of worms and I sense I’m already pushing my luck here…)
Bottom line is, everyone can play how they like (within the rules).
Enjoy your game! 👍

20 RepliesI mean, you're allowed to enjoy the game however you want, but people are also allowed to call the way you enjoy the game boring and unimaginative.

2 RepliesEdited by Zodleon: 12/14/2023 3:21:56 AMThere is a difference between "camping" and tactically holding a position. They often look the same but it's more about the goal. If you're just staying there because it's safe and you can get kills you're camping, which is an uninteresting way to play imo. If you're holding a zone or a Lane to prevent an enemy push or flank. Then you're being tactical. I'm a counter push slayer. I rotate opposite my team to hold objective and delay the enemy team with the goal of buying time for my team to rotate. It's why my caps are low usually but I prevent more caps than I would get.

2 RepliesI prefer the term "Anchor"

6 RepliesI camp on Vostok.

4 RepliesI’ve hated campers since counter-strike came out almost 30 years ago. Why? Because it’s a game, you don’t actually die. I never saw how staying in one place all the time could be fun. Only for egomaniacs who love their K/D ratio.

7 RepliesThe game gets more campy and team shooty when it gets more skill based. So that's just something people are going to have to accept and learn that you can only really be shooting when there's other people around and that small and large teams are going to be driving the flow of the matches, regardless of how good they really are or should be treated like they are. More supposed skill means less improvisation and camping definitely falls under the category of less improvisation. At this point "the rules" should be subject to critique. The last crew got to write all the rules and this is what everyone ended up with so that's a little too much to just wipe away with "now I'll be nicenessnesses."

1 ReplyThere’s nothing wrong with camping. Can see how it could get boring but you’ve already said that you switch it up with other styles anyway so all good from what I can see.

1 ReplyIf it’s in the game it’s fair game.

1 ReplyIs it really camping if you're in the middle of the map?

1 ReplyApes talk to smack at campers and campers talk smack at apes. It will always be this. The fact of the matter is though, even the best players will play slow and conservative when they come up against someone as good or better than them.

2 RepliesI love using sniper rifles and high caliber rifles, so camping is a normal thing for me. I've been called many worst things, and some called me a hacker for knowing what are common spots most players will rush to. Modern Warfare 2019 I use M4A1 with socom rounds. Destiny 2 I use succession or beloved with either an smg or pulse rifle.

3 RepliesPretty nonsensical post/logic lol, but yes, anyone can play how they want. You can enjoy all the things you talked about (defending objectives, playing objective game modes, etc) and still not camp. My only issue is when people play knowingly annoying playstyles and get upset when they get bagged or emoted on. If you're okay with that, play how ya like.

2 RepliesI love using Scout Rifles in Scout Rifle maps like Eternity, Disjunction, etc. The handcannon/shotgun apes do not. I’ve gotten lots of hatemail and death threats from using a Mida multi tool. One time had a guy message me saying “Dawg, stop playing long range and fight me close range” in Eternity 😂
