I have a background in science. It's a very commonly known practice when conducting experiments (and let's be honest...D2's patches and updates are definitely experiments) to only manipulate a minimum of variables at a time. This way, you can be far more certain of what caused a particular change in the results. So why, oh why, does Bungie always tweak alllllll the sliders at once and then act baffled when the game breaks?
Bungie...you already nerfed ability cooldowns, kickstart mods, AND ability regen % on orb pickup with S23 launch. We did not need an orb generation nerf to go along with it! The ability cooldown nerfs themselves would have already greatly reduced orb generation! This REALLY needs to get undone.
And no, today's update of equipping multiple copies of mods is not a solution. Do you even play your own game? Who has the energy slots available on their armor for that? I swear, it feels sometimes like you *want* your player population to keep dwindling. I'm a die-hard, and this is the most unfun the game has felt in a long time.

They're doing EVERYTHING they can to slow this mess of a game down. They're running out of ideas to keep us engaged, but still want that money.
-
Really, it's just another little shred of proof that BungLe is purposefully killing this game.
-
1 ReplyI agree. They should have just removed/reduced the cooldown when running those specific mods. Who is going to run 2 or 3 mods just have to have the cooldown worse than what it was? The nerfs to restoration and other mods was another letdown during an already bleak period in D2.

5 RepliesI agree but would like to let you know there's fragments that allow you to make lots of orbs with the right builds still. I'm very big into builds and energy percentages and I think the nerf to orb creation is triple overkill on a system I thought was fun and what they wanted "more boom" or so they put it. If you tell me what subclass you like running I can help give advice on a build that still creates lots of orbs

Do you even play your own game?
You already know the answer, but you can always look up live streams of them playing this game since 2014 and it will show you the truth 🤷♂️

Orbs getting the warmind cell treatment. Probably will be phased out by Final Shape.
-
Because it's bungie.. it's what's they do.
-
5 RepliesBut science and computer science, programming and development, game design, etc are completely different things
-
6 RepliesI have stopped using all of the mods because of this, the system doesnt work the way that I want and Im not going to put all of the energy into throttled orb generation.
-
1 ReplyI'm not sure why the community is so up in arms about orb generation since the average player doesn't even know mods exits.
-
Orb cool down is horrible considering also they then bring out a weekly challenge to produce orbs in strikes , gambit or crucible. In strikes with randoms, even with mods going ham at it on average can get 3% which means you'll need about 33-36 strikes. That's more then a full vanguard reset from start to end
-
2 RepliesI feel this. Deeply, do I feel this.
-
5 Repliesinvis cool down too.. it completely ruins gyrfalcon's hauberk in pvp
-
2 RepliesBungie is a bit like Communism, they fix issues that didn't exist before their touch, and claim the halfassed result to be revolutionary
-
6 Replies“WhY AcCoUnT PrIvAtE?” “MaD CuZ BaD” -insert other silly responses here… In all seriousness I haven’t noticed a massive change to orb generation but many many people have. I agree. Orb gen didn’t need to be touched.
-
3 RepliesHaven't even noticed a difference
-
3 RepliesThis change really hurt me. Orb utilization for me was entirely focused on health regeneration. 10 second cooldowns on ability spawned orbs means a lot less bandaids litter the floor for me now. Not world ending I just cant be as aggressive as I used to be which is kinda frustrating I'm a titan main I NEED to punch.

3 RepliesEdited by rednayeL: 12/13/2023 12:08:38 PMWhoa a minute there. What you are saying is logical and common sense, Bungie will never even understand what you are saying. All they can see is that you want more orbs, which they perceive to be reverse psychology, which in turn will lead to us having even less orbs.
-
3 RepliesYea you went way over bungie's head, you gunna have to bring that down to a second grade level for them to even understand what "variables" means.
-
1 ReplyAfter playing this game awhile now and over the last year there has been over 150 nerfs to weapons and abilities and player stats and even match making. Then they nerf the player up the -blam!- by buffing the ads and doubling down on density . The only thing they accomplished in all of this is players leaving the game and extremely poor sales to the tone of nearing bankruptcy. They might be trying to kill the game so they can file bankruptcy and not pay the employees there severance or stock shares. That makes everything they are doing have at least some reasoning.
-
1 ReplyAll they are doing is trying to make the game harder...it makes no sense. Things like this is why I've stopped playing as much. They are killing their cash cow
-
8 RepliesYou should try playing arc, solar, void, or strand classes. With the 3.0 changes you can have almost 100% uptime on your skills. Ionic traces, devour, and the scorch debuff makes all the light subclasses almost idiot proof in reducing ability cooldowns. Strand aspects pretty much do the same thing.

All my friends have slowed down playing and are angry about this change. The triple mod stacking cooldown makes zero sense. That takes up all three slots for a normal old way cooldown. This is my post from last season https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/263465162/0/0

1 ReplyYes, builds are now largely reduced to equipping an exotic armors and go. Ashes to assets Hands on Firepower Heavy handed Everything else is rather useless. There are thousands of times more cosmetic options than actual gameplay options. I don’t think that this solution Bungie chose will motivate players to spend more in cosmetics.

42 RepliesI have no idea how people are struggling to make orbs, even after the nerf. I have hardly noticed any sort of detriment to ability regeneration. Uptime is still high if someone knows how to build craft.
