I have a friend I play with who doesn’t use a mic, instead using in-game chat to communicate. Before, that wouldn’t pose a problem but something got messed up at the start of the new season. Now the most innocuous words are getting censored, making comms exceptionally difficult. For example, was at ir yut and was typing the order of pickups into the chat for ease of use, so I typed “… > stein > Jake > …” and both of those names got censored. Another time I was talking about fireteam finder and the mobile app and the game censored the words “mobile to”. In both cases, it significantly reduced our communication ability and was obviously unnecessary so my main questions are what is up with the excessive censorship and when will it be fixed?

2 RepliesThis is what happens when to many people get offended by words.

It's so stupid how this game has no option to turn off profanity filter, such a sissy move
-
3 RepliesFun fact the name of the CEO for Bungie is censored in game. Apparently he has a super fragile ego that needs protecting.
-
4 RepliesThe game is aimed at 13 year olds. So we have to protect the children.

Bungie: Sorry you must pay 1000 silver to unlock the cursing option.

Things just be so random!

3 RepliesEdited by CozMcKilljoy: 12/9/2023 9:48:09 PMI was once banned for describing the sound a hammer makes when you activate it. It was in reply to the most dreaded sound in Destiny and for me it was when a fellow Titan pops their hammer it goes “ka-ch***”. Like the sound of calling change or metal. Apparently that was considered a racial slur. I was banned immediately with no hope of repeal. No warning either. In the context of my reply it was clearly outlined how I was using the word. In my own ignorance I was give the boot for 3 weeks no forgiveness. What was ironic was a few comments into the post people were telling each other they were au****** or to go F*** themselves. That’s okay talk but heven forbid you try and describe the sound an activated hammer makes. Now I’m going to hit post and see if I get a ban for some reason… Edit: I’m safe!!! For now…

2 RepliesThe nanny overreach sounds annoying, yes, but it's also silly that you guys can't guess the kind of things that would obviously get caught in the net by this censor program (that I'm 80% sure is shared by several studios).

its driving us crazy we cant even communicate

Another reason to stop funding Bungie.

Backwards times when adults can’t have free speech in a video game because a minority amount of people may be offended. Also, besides swear words and random stuff being censored, lots of names are too. Including Joe Blackburn and lots of political figures (mainly conservative figures, who would’ve guessed.) My friend asked about the new censorship on the D2 Reddit forum and his post got immediately removed and he got banned from the forum. So I guess we can’t have free speech or question their changes and the motives behind them. Now let’s see if this gets deleted!

Right? They're here to make games. That's it. Nothing else. I don't care what any of their views are, or if language hurts anyone's feelings. I'm here to do my thing and have fun. I don't need ANYTHING censored. I mean what are we? Five? If I want to discuss social views and issues, I will go to a function designated for such things, and talk about them there, or if it comes up in conversation, choose whether or not to participate. Sure its only rated Teen, and its definitely a game kids play, but who cares? Its the parents job to decide if they want their kids using language. You buy games that have tons of people interacting, "foul" language will be spoken, heard, and seen, and people need to get over it. It seems to cause glitch issues in alot of stuff too, but its not needed in any regard. Not sure if there's any legal standard for it. That is something to consider too. The FCC may have some dictation there that devs can't legally ignore. Not sure, but its worth noting.

I love seeing chats with paragraphs of ********************** Makes me feel that Bungie is protecting my weak mind from those bad bad words
-
in game the other day i said something to my fireteam along the lines of F*** that guy (someone extremely toxic on the other team, and it didn't bleep out my f-bomb. The other night I typed something in chat, i can't remember exactly what I said by i typed "f that" and it bleeped it out to "* ****" Their censorship makes no sense.

It was a -blam!- exploitation word or something like that, so you can see the level of hiring done by these Walmart degree graduates

Don’t mention anything rainbow related and you’ll be fine 😂

They never cared what people said to eachother in lfg. But now with fireteam finder it's a problem all of a sudden. Weird decisions...

Jake is a bad word ! 🤫

2 RepliesI said watch out for the booby trap in the new dungeon and everyone else etpped in it because my mesaage was " watch out <music notes> trap"

1 ReplyOn cod I couldn’t create a custom class named “sniper” for awhile I guess anything with a ER at the end is offensive according to the west
-
5 RepliesMy favorite was having the letter "R" censored, and my friend typed it into chat, asking why only mine was getting censored.
-
Couldn’t even do call outs for gos and DsC for a while there because basic call outs were censored. Apparently saying “pull left” or “far right” was the same as calling someone a slur in Bungies eyes, which is funny in itself

Edited by AppleSoda: 12/9/2023 6:16:32 PMWell if you’ve been on these forums any, you’ll know their censorship systems are super sensitive. Sometimes you can make sense of it like a naughty word/phrase separated by a space (even though they are two different words that just happen to make a bad word when you take the end of one and the beginning of the other) or something but other times you’ll never understand Bungie’s glorious purity and you have to accept that 😭
-
It won't be fixed. It's on purpose. If you have not noticed, Bungie supports weak minds and encourages weakness by providing safe spaces instead of letting people be taught to man the F up and deal with life.
