I know people have been playing with their rocket-assisted sidearms as of late, but have you tried using a glaive recently? Times sure have changed.
I remember when glaives had inconsistent hit registration that either forgot to deal damage or forgot to give you shield energy. Or both. And I remember when they forgot how to melee after shooting for a full second.
All of that doesn't really happen anymore. And they passively generate shield energy just by holding them in your hand like a menace. Now of course they aren't going to be good at one-shotting or doing DPS, but I've found them to be pretty fun in both PvE and PvP since this season started. The one I was playing around with was Unexpected Resurgence. It felt viable in the Crucible. I even used it in Trials last weekend. Didn't go flawless, but got pretty close and the glaive I was using felt pretty good. I also used it in The Coil activity earlier yesterday and managed to complete a run without too much trouble. That extra shield energy in PvE is very nice, especially when a boss is about to quake the ground. I felt like I could push a little bit aggressively with it and succeed.
It kinda makes me want to come up with glaive ideas to post on here. I've never had so much fun with a stick on Destiny 2 before.

I just want a non exotic glaive in the stasis strand slot.

Glaives are the dumbest weapon type in the game. They are no skill, high reward, and aren't fun at all.
-
Why, Why would you post this Player: I'm having fun with Glaives now Bungie: Players having fun .......Nerf Glaives now That's how its going to go :(
-
Are they back to day 1 damage though?

Winterbite and wormgod on banner of war titan. Have your friendly neighborhood lock run cenotaph and proceed to DECIMATE in pve. Pvp I will not reveal my secrets lol. Let's just say I'm getting bagged and such as if I'm using a fusion smh. I don't understand all the hate and slander towards glaive users lol. Well tonight it will be time to earn more. Edited by Guardian,Archon Of Light: 12/9/2023 3:12:12 AMGlaives are like Gambit , a good idea on paper , not so much in reality, a failed project that needs to be put out of its misery

I run a Winterbite/Triton Vice build on my Hunter and it’s so much fun. I never considered glaives as an option for anything. I still don’t for most activities, but for the right activities it’s super fun.
-
Damn...now they will probably get nerfed. Remember, we can't have nice things.
-
So what you’re saying is
nerf glaives
I still find Glaives just mechanically weird. A special ammo melee weapon would have been fine on it's own, but they all shoot projectiles for some reason. And having a shield like swords makes sense as melee weapon surrounded by guns, but the shield is stronger? Than the sword that uses less available heavy ammo? (Correct me if I'm wrong after recent sword updates) And their physical model is very clunky, just seems too long.

The projectile velocity buffs combined with the huge reduction of the delay between firing and melee has made them feel so much more fluid. Glaives actually don’t feel janky anymore now. And the 25% projectile damage buff means that it actually has some offensive potential at range. Not a DPS monster or anything, but can actually kill a major - this also helps Agg glaives feel worthwhile. The passive energy regen is alright, I haven’t noticed anything really special about it. The rate is so slow that it can’t really help you that much. Only situations it’s been super helpful in are with Vexcalibur (can block for a second into a melee kill for a full overshield) or topping off one of the exotic ones so you can use the block like a normal Glaive and still have the exotic perk. (This is just my opinion tho) Overall, this was a massive glow-up for the weapon type.

Whether or not I agree with you, it’s nice to see some positivity on these forums.

Mine could feel gudder.

Monte is technically a primary glaive

I always was a Glaive fan and my favorite one still is my crafted Enigma. My go to Gambit slayer. And a fun play in Banner of War loadouts. At least it used to be.

Edited by KevSlinger: 12/8/2023 6:41:28 AMThanks for the review! I enjoy the Glaive but I haven’t used it much as of late. I play mostly Hunter and Warlock, and I’ve been meaning to make a Triton Vice build this season. Looks like it would be fun. Do Necrotic Grips work with a Glaive? I’ll have to give that a shot and see. Maybe Warlord’s Sigil or Vampiric Caress would work. I’m going to be doing some experimenting this weekend and make a couple nice Glaive builds I think.
