Destiny 2 not Launching (Steam) - PLEASE HELP
I am completely lost on what to try anymore. So I haven't been able to launch Destiny 2 consistently for the past 2 1/2 weeks. The game launches, and then stops 15 seconds later. It only randomly opens once every few times that I verify the game's files or restart steam and I don't want to that every time. Here are the checks I've done:
- Uninstalled and reinstalled Destiny (twice)
- Verified game files (works once in a while but if I close the game I have to do it again. Game says there aren't any corrupted files)
- Cleared my steam cache
- Made sure my drivers were fully updated
- Changed the name of my destiny 2 files to back
- Uninstalled and reinstalled Battleye
- Made sure my audio drivers were updated fully
I have no idea what to do anymore so any and all help is greatly appreciated, especially from dev or support.

this is now happening to me. i just clicked the play button for Destiny 2 six times in a row in the steam client without seeing the game start. the play button just kept turning green. this has only happened to me a couple times so far, and started like.. ~2 weeks ago. i havent had to validate or reinstall any files yet though.. and up until recently i could just close the steam client and restart it and it would run destiny again. but twice now ive had to right click on the steam icon in the system tray and click 'Exit Steam'.. and then start steam again. then i can get steam to run the game. so far.... not saying this will be the solution to your issue.. and its not even really a solution, just a band-aid., but putting it here just in case. will update if it gets worse.

The same thing has been happening to me. I've reinstalled the game 12 times. Reinstalled steam probably about 4 times. Reinstalled windows twice. Ran diagnostics on all my hardware I replaced ssds replaced motherboard replaced graphics card. Currently getting an rma for my i9 13900k. I've done every YouTube / Reddit fix available online nothing fixes it the game is broken for PC maybe it doesn't affect everybody but it definitely affects some. They need to fix it because I'm one of the few that did not cancel my final shape pre-order and if I can't play the game then I guess I'll be canceling that as well.

This started for me, after reset 2023-12-01, after the game crashed going to orbit at the first encounter in the new dungeon. Trying to start the game I get stuck at “Starting game - Destiny 2 - Launching” every time no matter what I’ve tried. The only thing that works for me every time is “verify integrity of game files”. As it is now I have to do this whenever I want to launch the game…

2 RepliesHello there Try deleting the Destiny 2 folder (or txt file inside it) located in the temp folder. C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Temp The next time you start the game, new ones will be formed. I don't know if this will help with game crashes. But it helped when on a PC the game constantly tried to check the integrity of the files on its own. I hope it helps.

You can try uninstalling your Steam client and reinstall it on a different partition/drive.
