Tired of being gaslit that streamers don’t have stroke…

…and influence over Destiny 2 as a series. I do not hate streamers and content creators, but after experiencing balance patches that read like feedback directly from content creators, I don’t see how people can deny it anymore. There are those who don’t deny it, and feel as though those who play the game as a career, are more fit to give feedback… However, some of the feedback they give, is from a skewed perspective that does not track with the average player’s point of view. Time and time again, the community is ignored, while the concerns of content creators, often against the wishes of the consumer, are prioritized. This has been a point of contention for a very long time. In light of the recently announced nerfs, most of which were requested by prominent content creators, and are generally being lambasted by the community, as you are reading this. I think their influence may need to be re-evaluated.

I have been pre ordering 4 DLC or seasonal passes at a time every release since D1 beta for my 3 sons and I. Except now. My sons stopped playing a year ago because they said the fun was gone. I skipped a whole season this year, and only played part of last season. I logged in the last 2 days to play around with all my builds, and experiment with the champ mods in nightfalls. I logged out 45 minutes ago, and will not be logging back in unless a lot of these changes are walked back. Not only did they nerf a ton of things, they broke a lot of things by proxy- like nova warp and devor interaction to name one. If the fun is not returned to the game I will definitely not be returning. Apparently I am not alone in voting with my wallet, hence their short fall with their sales projections that led to the layoffs. Unfortunately this is the only language big companies understand, they could care less about our feedback as long as we continue to open our wallets.

Private message me one streamer that wanted abilities, mods and orb generation nerfed specifically. Honestly, if the community actually learned from streamers 90% of the players in here wouldn’t be getting clapped all the time from neomuna to master nightfalls. I said what I said.

        • Bungie has held several summits where they directly invite and listen to feedback from content creators. At this point, gaslighting is the perfect phrase for it.

I say it’s only a handful of creators and it’s mostly the ones who complain the most about the game’s difficulty! The craftening and how all the biggest content reacted to it should filter out the most entitled ones… The fact that one particular streamer’s wishlist was almost all these nerfs etc, and after giving his review he wasn’t “satisfied” makes my skin crawl… The arrogance of a few that would have nothing if it wasn’t for this game… Good thing there’s also great guys on the streamer side, who also want fun most of the time! I’m a player who thinks the game isn’t that hard overall but 75% of the time prefer having fun over difficulty..

          • Im pretty sure across the board content creators have a major influence on games. With that said, Bungie isn't really doing a good job of listening to them at every turn.

          • Yep. It's pushing 10 year veterans I play with off the game. Sucks that the top % once again want things harder. Ironically, it will kill the game, and they won't get views.

            • Don’t say anything bad about the streamers/youtubers or you will probably get banned even if it’s fact. Their little minions jump to their defence straight away as if they are Besties with them.

            • Streamers absolutely have the dominant influence on D2. It's not necessarily their fault they're just who Bungie decides to take feedback from. Back when D2 launched in its terrible state what did Bungie do to sort out their issues? They didn't turn asking players what they wanted, they formed a Bungie summit where they then spent money to fly out streamers to hear their opinions. They value their opinions so much they would pay to hear it. If they ever actually wanted player feedback these feedback forums are completely free.

              • Facts. At times you hear from content creator themselves about how they've attended invite only events where the devs go over upcoming developments and changes and collect their feedback. iirc, forbes Paul Tassi talked about how the last few years leaks likely came from people attending these events and were subsequently banned from ever attending after they got caught. How fans like to pretend that their favorite streamers/youtubers feedback doesn't have significant influence in changes is a bit sad. These people don't genuinely care about you, a lot don't even hide it anymore and are constantly saying as much in their content.

                • If you actually watch how streamers play they arent that good. They just bait their teammates or carry. And they get clean-up kills. Very rarely do they ever push in first. If they do they are normally around a 1.8 and below KD.

The reason why we have multiple currencies in this game now is because Streamers were complaining that people weren't watching them anymore thus they needed something to grind for thus we started to got Enhancement Cores...

                      • Imagine thinking streamers and content creators have ANY influence over this game. What delusional world are we living in? Every single streamer or content creator I see just trashes the game consistently. Every good player I know hates the state of the game and the direction it's going. Every single change made in the last 2+ years has been for the CASUAL player. In-air accuracy: Causal player complaint Slide nerf: Casual player complaint Hand cannon nerf: Casual player complaint Trials MM getting reworked: Casual player complaint Zone trials: Casual player complaint Shotgun nerfs: Casual player complaint SBMM: Casual player complaint All of these garbage systems are in the game TODAY because Bungie listens to the DADS and NOT to the streamers or content creators. This game is HARD CATERED to the causal player. I wish I lived in this land of delusion where Bungie listened to the people who are good at the game. Every single TWAB, every single patch, every single change Bungie does, they do it for the 0.5kd Jimmy who can't even complete a strike, complains about some "secret" matchmaking that forces them to lose, and how CBMM isn't fair. I can promise you, that this post will be downvoted into oblivion by those same casual players. The sad part is you don't even realize how HARD Bungie caters to you guys and how much Bungie HATES any good player or anything competitive at all. Even sadder is you won't understand it either because 99% of you will never be in the top 1% and the extreme few who do will look back and realize; ''I wish I was still a casual player."

You realize if we listened to them we wouldn’t be here in the first place. Bungie catered to the casuals and look at the s**t storm we found ourselves in.

                          • Funny because nearly all the changes the past few years were aimed at catering the game to the casuals. Haven’t even played this game in weeks but not surprised by most of the changes. Also not surprised at the anger to them because the average Destiny player is terrible. Just calling it how it is.

One other thing about the gaslighting and then I'll stop and won't be even more of an annoyance. The first thing that pops into your head when someone says gaslighting is that it's mostly designed to be applied to really abusive situations featuring con artists and sociopaths. So the question then becomes why do they feel so abused. Gaslighting is not going to be the answer to that question. And there are answers to that question. Some of them are really unfair and have had me tbh, thinking about pop up laws. Nobody deserves to be treated in a certain way period. And that's not the only one. Almost done, when it comes to something like weapon in a videogame the answer is always going to be do we really need to take it that far? Usually when you're debating something like that you present your argument as being falsifiable or else it's invalid. That's something everybody knows. So something designed to deal with abuse being applied towards a videogame gun is borderline saying your argument is non falsifiable. These things are just too strong a language to be using against someone who is basically doing what you're doing to and should be seen as being on your side.

I think we need to stop putting the blame on just streamers all three parties are guilty IMO the streamers, casuals and Bungie *Streamers asking for more challenge content when when casual having it hard as it is *Causals complaining about every little thing out of annoyance and begs for nerfs when actually it doesn't need to *Bungie bad implementing that ends up effecting both parties and ends up making it worse then it needs to be. More and more i'am seeing only one major issue with this community that's literally effecting this game majorly it's (high skill vs low skill players) in both PvP and PvE while Bungie implement a hard experience for casuals and a unsatisfying rewarding experience for streamers

                            • Considering casuals think it is a winning strategy to run double primary in Gambit, Bungie shouldn't be listening to them either. The only consistent thing throughout the years of Destiny 2 is the constant whining from the community, both streamers and casuals alike. Everyone seems to know what is best for the game when in reality they know very little. Every change to the game made out to be a personal attack made against them by Bungie.

Okay so... I figured because that may have made me look like a nut, that perhaps I should suggest some times where people should or should not be on the lookout for gaslighting. Lookout for gaslighting: When people say you owe them something that you do not owe them up to and including an explanation. When people start talking about money. When people get to not have to explain what they did that lead up to something bad.. When people start talking about money. Don't do it because you'll end up in hell: In front of the community or to encourage the community to do it. Every single person playing this game should only really be considered to be going after what they want before any notion of gaslighting is considered. When you're having a bad day. When you're working long hours and the more logical parts of the brain are actually first to go and they become over replaced by the emotional parts of your brain. From an invisibility cloak. When discussing anything dealing with race or identity. That's a goood one because, like with a lot of things there's evidence you can go find to make sure you're right enough for you to not have to worry about the crabness potentiality of crabs in a bucket theories. Be careful about becoming crabby. There's people who want you to do that and leave them an opening and thall just keep it going. They can smell it like bacon usually because they're not occupied with something that makes them not do that. I will add more if anyone wants it but these concepts can't be treated like monoliths that can't or aren't sufficiently informed by other concepts. It might feel good now but later that becomes part of the problem.

                            • Hey ever ody. I want everyone to know that as I'm doing whatever it is this loser thing I'm doing is, I'm really trying to get there on telling a company of people who are already living with the people pop up situation that they should always be on the lookout for gaslighting. In my head I'm just like "these people look at screens for their work all day" and that kind of already in your head job plus pop up people just makes me think people ought not possibly add to that. I'm still trying to get there though.
