10 Second Orb Cooldown??? WTF

In my personal opinion, the most outrageous nerf has to be this 10 second orb generation cooldown from Reaper, Fire Power, and Heavy Handed. Build crafting is literally the bread and butter of any looter shooter/MMO, so I don’t get why there’s a nerf to a new system that hasn’t even been shipped out for a year. Bungie, this is just not it. I hope this change gets reverted ASAP

    You crybabies do understand there’s multiple ways to create orbs and by the time you use a couple of them the cool down will be over. What a novel idea to shoot your guns, throw a melee, toss a grenade, use your class ability, pop a super yada yada yada. I swear the posts can be copied and pasted for years now. Same stuff every year and yet it’s always the same guys that have been quitting for years but still play 😂

    • Brother relax. Trust me we're gonna have multiple ways to generate orbs. You guys need to look at patterns and the fact you do not realize what they are doing by now is a little astonishing. They're giving a 10 sec timer because they are creating new ways to generate orbs we didn't have before. For example next season there is a gun perk being added that with sustained damage orbs will drop... Etc. things like this is why they are putting a timer on it. This is what they do, they have done stuff like this countless times but all you people do is scream and complain. Take a breath. Take a step back. Gather data and you'll realize this.

              This is a big one for me as well. At this point, I'm genuinely struggling to see what they gain from this and a lot of the other nerfs. The game is literally balancing on a knifes edge, and someone thinks this is the way to go forward and keep veteran players active and entice new lights to spend money. The logic of it is truly baffling. For the first time ever, I'm not pre-ordering i was hoping this twab might change my mind. Sadly, i was wrong.

              • The game a year ago has been driving a Porsche 911. Now we landed in the seat of a ford pinto . Why ? power creep ? noway joe . Its way more then that . Its easier to recycle the game and just make players struggle through trying to figure out which broken nerfed build to try next on the same strike they ran 1000's of times before. We can hope that next seasons artifact mods are the cats meow ,but from what I seen they got nerfed worse then the current season . They keep going this direction . And we will have to throw in the towel due to numb fingers dueling a red border for 10 mins.

I hope this change gets reverted ASAP[/quote] It's bs indeed,especially since orbs only do so much after your super is charged and often there are many orbs after everything is dead and we all run with full armor charges and woven mail to have them expire before we get to the next fight. That's the real problem ,we should get a deployable by us reserve to use those charges when we need them

                • A lot of my builds aren't dependent on orb creation, the orbs are just a plus for healing or a little extra ability Regen. With that being said, two of my favorite and best builds are with the Radiant Dance Machines exotic and the reason it worked so well is because the constant orbs (via Reaper) allowed for amazing survivability while I cleared ads. So that was a huge punch to the gut. I never felt like it was overpowered so... Why? With the 10 second cool down, the Radiant Dance Machines may be useless now in harder content. I'm not positive, I'll need to test it but it wouldn't surprise me if I was dying a lot more now.

                  • They definitely were planning this for a while. A lot of orb/elemental pickups were being given 10 second+ cooldowns even just this season they gave the stasis one a cooldown.

                    • 10 sec cooldown on Firepower? Why? The only class that can spam endless Grenades is solar warlock with Sunbracers, and solar warlocks are forced to run well in any end game activity, so they aren't spamming supers but saving them for DPS phases. There are a few other classes that can get a few more Grenades out (not counting voidlock with contraverse hold, because locks are forced to run solar...), but nothing at solar warlock level and none really OP for end game content. It's like there is no thought on whys and consequences on these nerfs. They probably forced the janitors to play 1h of game and asked for opinions and the poor guys just spewed random things to get out of there fast. This TWID completely killed my motivation to continue playing. Why play if devs don't care at all about the issues players complain about? Has any of the devs tried to kill the high value target centurion in Neomuna for example? That thing has more HP than a raid boss!

                      • 10 seconds is quite absurd, and I imagine the energy costs isn't being reduced either. 3 energy for an orb every 10 seconds is not worth it, imo. Instead of buffing stasis properly, it looks like they're just giving every other subclass the same orb problem stasis has.

                            I was actually completely fine with everything in the TWID (except maybe devour) until I saw this nerf. I haven't played the game much at all in the last two years and was thinking of hopping back in next season. Then I saw this change in the TWID and it completely removed all desire to do so. Nevermind bungie, I'm not paying you and I'm not coming back to your game next season. Peace. Revert this galaxy level stupidity nerf and I'll reconsider.

                            • When you've got the right build, you can easily spam Class, Melee, and Grenade abilities to your heart's content. Not to mention that, when Titans get Knockout or Roaring Flames going, [b]EVERY[/b] Melee becomes a powered Melee, and you can generate Orbs of Power left and right for free. Every punch that kills a red bar can spawn an Orb of Power. The nerfs will require adjusting pre-existing builds, which is unfortunate and a little annoying. It's why the change to Orbs of Power goes hand in hand with the changes to perks involving ability regen. A lot of orbs means a lot of ability energy regen from Absolution, Innervation, Invigoration, and Insulation. Toss on weapons with Pugilist and Demolitionist (Energy Transfer for Swords is the only one that gives Class ability energy), and ability cooldowns become straight-up irrelevant. I say this as someone who prefers builds to specialize Super energy generation. Those specific mods haven't been targeted yet, but this will hit the frequency and ease of generating Super energy via ability kills and Class ability usage. I believe I'll manage to off-set these nerfs, though. Just need to see how much they affect gameplay.

                              • This is what makes the game not fun anymore.... when there was the crafting glitches bungie saw the biggest jump in player base for the year, bc it was fun af. I really hope they wake up and see that they are killing the game with these kind of nurfs

                              • they vaulted buildcrafting (again! the first time was when they reworked all the mod system and killed elemental wells. pratically, we don't have any remnant of buildcrafting anymore)

                                • What are these orbs, orbs of light? or elemental orbs? Either way, terrible. And they drop all the bad news right before they went on break so they won’t see the feedback🤣😔. Not that they cared at all in the first place.

                                • This basically makes Dilation mandatory if you're using anything that decays your Armor Charges, and some might say it requires Dilation x2 now. Isn't 10 seconds the base time you have without Dilation? Melee builds, specifically Arcstrider, will be completely gutted by this change that clearly underwent zero playtesting in a real scenario. Melee builds aren't using their weapons much so it's not like they can "fill the gap in orb generation" by getting multikills with their weapon (which incidentally forces those players to run Siphon mods to boot). Couple that with Kickstart mods no longer providing energy on 0 charge and you've got a dev team that basically says: "you're only allowed to shoot guns, stop being fancy with all those abilities." If I wanted a shooter that was [i]just[/i] a shooter, I'd play a different game. Maybe that's the ultimate plan.
