Osteo Ostriga is an example of how exotics should be, but now you're considering to nerf it, Bungie.
How about buffing exotic weapons for PvE to match their exotic qualities instead?
How about making the game enjoyable instead of competitive?
Should this game be like Call of Duty in it's modern era, where it takes 1000 bullets to kill something? Or should it be like the old Call of Duties, where people enjoyed each gun they held because they were all good?
Note to devs: Try doing higher tier content with Le Monarque and tell me that you like it. (Legendary / Master lost sectors (Solo))

Odds say Osteo will be completely useless in endgame after the “balance” patch. Then they wonder why player engagement, and pre orders are way down. All they had to do was look at the numbers when the crafting glitch was in full swing- players we’re playing. Players want to feel powerful. A very small portion of the player base actual wants the game to be a slog/grind/hardcore difficulty. The majority want to feel a pay off when they level up fully, and invest in a max build.

Note to OP: le monarque is still top tier for high level content with overload champions.

It's time selling expansions is coming to an end is why.

I've solo'd GM's with Le-Monarch.

Not considering. It's getting a nerf, and it'll still be very very good after it.
-
they hate DoT effects. Pretty much every weapon and ability that has ever had a notable or high DoT has been nerfed severely

1 ReplyBungie doesn't let us keep power for long, accept the fact that if something feels good to use and actually kills things, it will eventually be gutted Fact of Destiny life that will never change

1 ReplyEdited by ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ: 11/6/2023 7:37:25 PMOsteo shouldn’t ever have a nerf. Reason is, it’s only really good at one thing: red bar bulk clearance, which just makes it far less useful in end-game content. If anything, it needs a yellow bar buff. It’s literally “THE”trash mob weapon, for primary use.

They've already nerfed it and it's already sort of shitty. So I guess they don't want people to use it at all. Seems kind of silly. The weapon is not great but is one of the few options for people who don't want to get carpal tunnel from plucking away at a bunch of bullet sponges. Hopefully, there will be something to replace it.

How about buffing exotic weapons for PvE to match their exotic qualities instead?
They addressed this in the Season 23 Weapon Tuning Preview (emphasis added):
OSTEO STRIGA Osteo Striga has been, quite frankly, far too powerful for the ease of use it provides when it comes to add clear in PvE. It has more range than most other SMGs, does not require kills, and does not rely heavily on precision aim to activate one of the strongest AoEs we’ve ever had in Destiny. In addition, the lingering poison damage has benefited from the damage scalar that SMGs get in PvE content, which was intended to buff SMGs direct impact damage. This scalar, which is one of the highest scalars of any weapon type in the game, is pushing the poison damage to such an extreme level that it’s been difficult for any other weapon to compete in the add clear role. While it is likely that this change will not move the needle on Osteo Striga by a substantial amount, it will at least be slightly less of an outlier compared to other add clear weapons. To preempt the argument, buffing other weapons up to the same level would be power creep to an extreme degree and very unhealthy for the game as a whole, so it is not something we are going to explore. • Removed the SMG damage bonus scalar that was affecting the poison damage. This brings Osteo Striga poison down to match standard Necrotic Grip poison, though as an Exotic, it will still deal 40% bonus damage against minors.
The devs are clearly interested in creating systems that reward skillful play; the fact that an Exotic with arguably the lowest skill ceiling in the game yet is simultaneously among the best at add clear isn’t being more heavily nerfed (with additional reductions to things such as AoE size, damage per bullet, enemy tracking capability) is frankly surprising.
