Eververse, Cheaper to allow everyone to enjoy, or expensive due to marketing?

With all hell breaking loose, "Currant"ly destiny being down, and bungie on the hot seat, an article had me confused From Forbes News article-- "There have been many meetings about microtransactions where many devs wanted to reduce them, but they were always given the reply that they are necessary given how expensive Destiny is to operate. And complaints about new ones don’t always reflect reality. Event Cards may seem lame but they sell well, for instance. Or you’d be surprised how many people are still buying the oldest expansions that we always say should be free by now." _____________________________________________________________________________ So this got me thinking, i did the math a long time ago on how much it would cost to buy the eververse store in its entirety and it was over $1,000 US,(I think someone posted $10,000 at some point later on), and with this article, it makes it sound like it was needed to be that expensive. But why? If you sold a ghost shell projections for a $1, Sparrows for $2, ghost shells for $3, and so on (Exclusive skins being the most expensive at maybe $10), making them very cheap, wouldnt it be better for the long run? Im not a business major or anything, but at lightfalls launch, players on steam along hit 316,750, so if all of them bought a really nice ghost shell projection, then the company would make $316,750 right? I know that the employee cost for creating such an item would ofset some of the potential profit, but i also see limiting the amount of items that enter the store, it would allow players to buy everything they want and make everything available to even the lowest of incomes. Just look at MHW, it had dlc, microtransactions, and became a very popular game for its time where their store was $5-$10 for skins and emotes and their dlc was normal price. It just confuses me is all, if they were so worried about revenue, why did they keep everything expensive and lock out alot of groups of players from enjoying the content they made.

    It's hard to say why the prices would keep increasing almost like it was required because more of them were physically being made or printed after the original like in a factory or something. I'd always assumed that they had someone figuring out what some kind of equilibrium for that was for price to volume and not just maximizing it so that it would look like it was being done for the benefit of literally everyone so it would appear to be supporting the game and not just stacking the skrilla. The prices did go up when inflation did too but most people have seen stories about why prices go up during inflation. The only point is some people don't feel like they're supporting the game and it might be because the costs don't allow them to contribute. The game definitely needs to get away from almost anything that's telling people they just don't got what it takes to be part of it.
