Maybe you’re a bow main and thus Forsaken is the jam to your PB. Or you are a narrative enthusiast and dug WQ.
1, 2, 3, and why????

Taken king has then best story and game updates that made improvements so it’s my #1 in that list. Forsaken is the same but for Destiny 2 but because I didn’t care much about Cayde’s death it isn’t as good as TTK so it’s #2. Witch queen was a disappointment. I can’t understand why anyone liked it. It was a narrative that could have been really good but near the end shits the bed and makes the starting part worse because it wasn’t leading up to a good twist. It’s absolutely a worse dps narrative wise than light fall. So witch queen is #3.

1 ReplyWitch Queen, Forsaken, Taken King WQ... is imo, the definitive era... best campaign... best campaign bosses. Piece of Trivia, who's the boss of the Taken King? Oryx... but not really, surprise he's not dead. What about the other bosses? WQ introduced weapon crafting... the 3.0 systems, I think the raid might be one of the best raid bosses... muti-staged, he moved. The legendary campaign... was actually challenging and re-playable... there was a lot of variety to the content, it has great exotics and weapons. The evolution of the gameplay really made it feel truly like a rpg for the 1st time.

Forsaken Witch Queen Taken King

Honestly, just Taken King. Forsaken was just a fix for the epic Vanilla damage. Witch Queen was adequate, but it didn't do anything that blew my doors off. The final Savathun fight in the story was basically a rip-off of the Ghaul fight from Vanilla with a difficulty bump. (Elemental damage phases). When they admit they don't "surprise and delight" enough, they aren't kidding. They haven't done it for years.

3 RepliesIf we’re just including the expansion itself and nothing after it, I’d probably go Forsaken, Taken King, WQ. If we’d include the entire year of that expansion I’d go WQ, Forsaken, Taken King. WQ’s year was really good all around with all the dungeons and raids - always something to do. PvP was a little neglected but Trials was up and running. Forsaken had 2 great seasons with Forge and Opulence. But Drifter was a letdown and the seasonal stories were very barebones compared to WQ. Taken King’s April update is very small compared to modern years and there was nothing to do between them. Taken King’s content was very good, but the sheer quantity can’t stand up to what we get now. I do think narratively speaking and from a standpoint of both quality and quantity, Witch Queen’s probably the best year. Forsaken as a close second. But in the end, if we’re taking the whole year I’d might even rank Beyond Light, RoI, or Lightfall above Taken King

Forsaken and Taken King to bring all around new life to the game and Witch Queen for the narrative campaign. I’d be good with just Witch Queen. Kinda too late to improve/overhaul things. Save it for the episodes I guess

2 RepliesKind of a flawed set in my eyes. Like, forsaken is only seen as such a victory because the game was in such a -blam!- state, and it 180'd a lot of the bad decisions they'd been making. TTK may have been game changing for a lot of people but personally I saw it as a slap in the face of the engaged player and it made me quit for a year. For those that stuck around they got to enjoy a dogshit leveling system, and a massive content drought. Witch Queen kind of has some of the same problems. It felt good because of how bad things were, not necessarily because it was actually all that good. It righted some wrongs and tried to add some new things to the mix like crafting (which have had lasting effects on the game, good and bad). Campaign was pretty good but same could be said of the other two listed here as well. If I HAD to order them, it's probably... 1: Forsaken 2: Witch Queen 3: TTK

1. Forsaken- by far the biggest and most polished expansion 2. The Taken King- the second largest and most polished expansion 3. Witch Queen- normal modern sized expansion but it was polished and introduced Legendary campaign that actually raised the bar in an area of the game that I never thought would get love ever.

In terms of story quality for me would be Witch queen Taken king Forsaken Red war
-
Taken King Forsaken Witch Queen Witch Queen wasn’t even that good. It had a good narrative for sure, I guess glaives were cool, exotics were great, but everything else was really meh and quality of life changes rather than new stuff. Throne World destination is kinda crap honestly and bare The armor set from there is weak AF The weapons are okay at best The one activity for the glaive patterns sucks Strikes were decent

Forsaken…. Witch queen outside of the story wasn’t good …

1 ReplyTaken King Rise of Iron Forsaken I don't get the joy over Witch Queen, there were some good Quality of Life changes but the story still sucked and it still gave us the same standard season crap.

1. Rise of Iron 2. Witch Queen 3. Forsaken 4. Taken King 1. Rise of Iron: Solid all the way around from an emotional narrative excellent story and lore to amazing setting design and voice acting. What sets this DLC above the rest is its endgame like taken king it included the rest of the game with the fallout from its events enabling a renewal for older strikes.keeping the playlist engaging. The other strength that RoI had was all of its encounters were engaging with their mechanics allowing for even the supplementary content and story beats to shine just as much as the main content and story. 2. Witch Queen: I love WQ because it was a coup de grace across the board from voice acting performances to execution of lore in the story to the just the story itself and the location design. There are two things that hold it back from top spot: 1. The strikes although solid from a gameplay sense the lack of continued stakes and dialogue after the first completion reduces their play ability. 2. The Exotic glaives around the era of WQ bungie was really stepping up their exotic designs and concepts and the simplicity and lackluster performance of the Exotic glaives comparatively to other modern exotics sorta diminishing their end game quality. 3. Forsaken: it had strong voice acting and story beats that are extremely memorable; plus an after story that overshadowed essentially everything else but the expansion in the game. I loved Forsaken but it just wasn’t as engaging as RoI or WQ in the end. I believe that this is because 1. At the time I wasn’t really playing as much attention to lore as I was in WQ. 2. The villain, Uldren Sov and Fanatic weren’t as engaging or as threatening as Savathün or SIVA and the Splicers because beyond being motivated beyond revenge there was very little in the story in the way of stakes until the post game. 4. Taken King: don’t get me wrong this DLC puts almost every other to shame however when I remove my rose tinted glasses the expansion doesn’t shine as bright as it 3 ahead of it. I think my main issue that I have with TK is that it’s story encounters although spectacular for its time don’t really compete with the fights from the other expansions; with RoI, WQ and Forsaken I can quite vividly remember several of the stories most powerful beats and fights but I don’t really have that for TK. I remember the opening sequences and first mission really well (loved that Phobos mission) but after that the rest of my memories regarding TK aren’t as captivating, other than the first time I did the Dark blade and reprised Nexus Mind. I think TK had a lot of the same spectacular elements that RoI had it just wasn’t as endearing for whatever reason.

3 Replies1 Forsaken 2 Taken King 3 Witch Queen All three have been good DLCs. Forsaken just brought a lot of content and meaningful content at that. Same with taken king, it was a major update back in the day. Witch queen had a great campaign but in my opinion did not add as much to the game as the other two. Also the seasonal, time-gated content ... Not a fan ...

1 ReplyFor me it’s The Taken King Forsaken Witch Queen I don’t get all the hype and love for WQ. It was OK, but that’s all it was as far as I’m concerned.
-
1. Taken King 2. Forsaken 3. Witch Queen Taken king saved the game, atmosphere was awesome, so much new content, dark, murky, magical. Forsaken was decent but for me not amazing, maybe jaded after 4 years of grinding tbh but still. Witch was mid, post campaign was simply awful. Everything else was cheeks. They've not set a very high bar tbch.

The Taken King Only

TTK. Forsaken, eh ok. Witch Queen, meh whatever. For me TTK had a great story and felt like there was a real reason to play. The world (back then) was new and a sense of impending doom shadowed every corner and decision you made as a player. Enemies felt like they meant business and actually wanted you dead. Now it's all cookie cutter crap with a story to match.

Taken King, then Forsaken, lastly Witch Queen. I don't really have anything concrete for why, other than my impressions of the final missions. I still remember the first time I took on Regicide clearly, the boss fight against the taken, the corridor leading to Oryx, the Hive God himself. I can remember the mission chasing Uldren Sov into the Dreaming city, the aesthetics, destroying the last of the Barons, but then being really confused by the curveball of the taken meatball. But all I remember about the Witch Queen one was how much of a slog it felt like, especially having to do it again on Legendary. I accept this is probably not the best criteria for ranking them, but I will always remember the Taken King more fondly than the other two as it is.
