Revenues missed targets by 45% was provided by Sony in a meeting to Bungie a few weeks ago. Bungie said they would push back the release of TFS until June and everyone was on board to do whatever it took to get revenue back. They layoffs seem obvious at this stage but, that is exactly what then took place, can't make revenues go up, you cut costs and voila.. balance sheet looks better.
I'm extremely leary now of preordering TFS at all. I've bought ever CE until now, and didn't this time as the produce in the CE editions has been less and less quality over the years.. I intended to buy the game but, hadn't done so and now I won't until we know some certainties and I may not until release day. Bungie is showing how poorly they have been managed, how long they let things to unattended and the consequences of those actions and inactions is now effecting many people within their organization and more to my concern, the product has suffered greatly and why engagement and retention just isn't there.

8 RepliesI remember all the new jacks that desperately pleaded for bungie to lower the games difficulty. Thousands of players, bungie instead told everyone destiny was becoming "harder ". Basically they gave people an ultimatum, be hardcore or move on. It's clear they didn't just move on, but 45% below expectations means they took their entire country with them. They shouldn't have went all in with the difficulty, especially because the only reason was to appease a few so they can continue being "watchable ". The state of the game caused this, God bless those fired .

You covered for a obviously flawed game, threw your money at a shoddy product and rewarded them for ignoring flaws. So it’s no wonder they kept running it into the ground. You incentivized it. Now that we left….guess whose holding the bag? You guys are. So I’m not going to take a victory lap. I don’t like hearing this news anymore than you. But we told you this would happen. 10 RepliesWhat's crazy is nobody is pointing any blame towards the streamers/content creators. Who wanted the higher difficulty? Who asked for nerfs to specific exotics? But they don't get paid by Bungie directly so they aren't affected. A half hearted DLC gets released with an increase in difficulty with major nerfs to exotics, and somehow people are confused why people don't play or pay for the game anymore. Sure Bungie cut some costs at reducing the staff, but the player retention isn't 100% on them. Catering to people who profit from playing the game shouldn't be the main focus. Now look at what they've done. Even with all of this the content creators are still profiting from making YouTube videos about what's going on.The blinds stares of a million pairs of eyes. Keep riding that hamster wheel guardians.

1 ReplyFor once, I am proud of this community for voting with their wallets and not playing the game or preording their next expansion. Now you see this is the ONLY thing that will get them to listen and make changes. This is why Blackburn made that video, this is why they were asking for pvp feedback in a forum post not long ago, and this is why Final Shape was delayed again (not because of layoffs, because it was more likely a low effort mediocre experience and they know they can't do that after the garbage that was Lightfall). They are desperate. When you guys buy all their stuff and play all day feedback will be completely ignored. And they will push the boundaries of scummy manipulation tactics, price increases and grind to see what you'll let them get away with. This is what happens when you put out a horrible expansion that cost $60 that has zero new crucible maps, zero gambit maps (for a gametype that desperately needs a refresh) and 1 strike. Those are your core playlists with no effort put in. They lazily add Battlegrounds that take 25 minutes to complete instead. Recycled raids from D1 thrown in too due to laziness. Maybe you should backtrack on the whole "no overdelivering" eh Bungie? lol

Then perhaps expansions will sell better. I enjoyed Lightfall but a lot of people didn’t, Neomuna is still too sweaty to patrol for fun… I am a consistent and keen Destiny player, but I wouldn’t recommend Lightfall to casual players. Events have become less and less engaging. This was a pretty good Festival of the Lost but still not as good as it was with the Haunted Forest.

Pre Ordering is out the window on this one. Until Bungo can fix their problems they will continue to be another LAME 343 type Game Developer. The fact i'm actually comparing Bungo to 343 is ironic in itself because everyone knows Bungie made the True Halo Series that defined a generation and now they are actually following in 343 footsteps (The Biggest Failure of a Game development company to ever exist) is the saddest thing I've ever seen. Bungo stop being 343 and get your Fing -blam!- together!

While it's a shame about all the lay offs, it makes me glad that Bungie's way of handling Destiny has finally caught up with them. They never should have committed to this dumb train station method of game development, and now they're paying for it.

Bungie itself hasnt had any real talent since Rise of Iron. What little talent did make it into D2 left after the release of CoO which also almost killed the game. Games running on a 20yr old engine, hybrid servers, and peer to peer connection; all of which bungie has already stated they would never fix or change. So the game was doomed from the start and it definately cant be a "never ending game" because their equipment simply cant handle it. There wont be a "continueing destiny" after TFS. Witch Queen wasnt a good DLC, it was actually extremely mediocre; the only reason people look on it fondly is because it was a breath of moldy air while players were swimming in a cesspool. Honestly same with Forsaken, wasnt all that great. Ive said it before and ill say it again, bungies going to run D2 into the ground thinking marathon will save them, it wont. Then sony is going to dissolve any they believe have talent into other studios they own and bungie itself will be no more. Marathon likely wont even be released at all and if youve pre-ordered The Final Shape, well...youre an idiot 🤷♂️

1 ReplyPlayers screamed for months to balance the game. Ad density and bullet sponge slog fest activity's . Screamed for pvp match balancing . Bungie did nothing ,but nerf even more. They never listened to the mass of paying customers . What did Bungie expect would happen. That we would just line up and give them more money. I think not.

Finally, I hope Bungie gets what they deserve. I also hope the actually talented devs, whether they get laid off, or when the company inevitably crumbles, find their place at an actually good and proper studio.

I didn't expect the main plot to be complete, but I still thought and believed that at least a chapter would be finished, because WitchQueen was very well done and the previous DLCs had done a good job of bringing the story to a close. But in fact, LightFall ended with an introduction, not a chapter, what the hell does this mean? Unfortunately, that's a big part of the reason why FinalSharp is in this mess even before it's released. In short, there is no trust.

9 RepliesI am getting really sick of hearing this ‘the devs were begging the management to let them improve the game’ nonsense. If they were so desperate to do that then maybe they could work on their work ethic and professionalism. Wearing pyjamas to your place of work even during an official livestream, putting political agendas above improving the game, leaving game breaking bugs to fester for days resulting in even worse problems, secretly throttling xp gains until they were found out by players and forced to half-heartedly apologise, the list goes on. These idiots brought this on themselves. I have zero sympathy for them.

5 RepliesMaking Destiny 2 without implementing D1 was a mistake. The double primary thing at the start of D2 was a mistake. Making this game so confusing for new players is a mistake. Changing Trials to cater to the few, then addressing it (with freelance and flawless pool), then reverting back was a mistake (trials is unplayable for me right now because as a solo player I get terrible matchmaking). Dumbing down our loadouts was a mistake. Going woke was a mistake and making political statements in a game is a mistake. Nickel and dimeing content is a mistake. Removing more content then they add is a mistake. Making seasonal battlegrounds into nightfalls instead of making new strikes is a mistake. Not changing up the loot pool enough is a mistake. Over nerfing is a mistake. Still not separating PvP and pve nerfs is a mistake. Removing fun things like particle reconstruction or breach and clear and replacing them with pointless mods is a mistake. Elemental orbs? PvP maps? Gambit? Terrible seasonal content? Repeatedly grinding the same activity for a random red border? I can go on and on as to how crappy they let this game get, I haven’t uninstalled and I did preorder but I may be considering a refund after seeing this. With the layoffs I expect the problems will only get worse.
