Sony bought Bungo as they wanted to learn / understand / leverage all the greed based knowledge that Bungo have gained over the last few years. (I could have told them in three words...addicts are idiots...) And now some of those learnings are being put into practice. The first of which is don't spend any money where you don't have to. So..au revoir Bungie community manager and co-lead of accessibility, au revoir Bungie social media lead, au revoir associate franchise editor, and au revoir publishing producer and event manager. But cutting those roles would have been one of the easiest decisions Sony have ever made.

2 RepliesIf it is delayed until June and this is October, that's 8 months. So I'm just going to take a shot at this, I'm sure that all of the employees that were not effective were the big bosses, but all the developers and some of the maintenance crew, art, and story line developers, the pvp crew is probably scrapped, have all lost their jobs so there is no one there to make anything, there might even be more of a delay cause they might change it from what they have shown us. But who knows for sure Bungie nor sony is going to say anything about this because we're on a need to know basis and we don't need to know is how they will treat it. But since it will be 8 months until final shape this is a possibility of what might have happened.

But what if its people that are advocates for the super social justice warrior agenda and sony is like either cut back or get the hammer and they didn’t yield so the hammer came down. I feel thats what it boils down to.

2 RepliesIt's not the talented devs & other worker bees at Bungie that this should be happening to. It's the greedy rich upper brace management. Super sad to see. Even those that I've disagreed with in the past from this studio don't deserve losing their jobs during the holidays. I wish everyone the best of luck.

It is really sad for those poor people being let go. I feel for them, especially with xmas just around the corner. It does sound like the company was a bit bloated and overstaffed in non productive areas, which would be doubly problematic with Sony already having departments that do those things. Despite the logic behind it all it still sucks balls. Always profits savings, every where you go. Worlds fubar.

The truth is the closer we get to the end of destiny, people are gonna be laid off. Marathon already has a full team. They don't need every single dev on payroll anymore.
