Reworking Necrochasm’s catalyst to be a unique spin on One for All is such a great idea and—along with the Osteo Striga nerfs—will probably put it firmly into the PvE meta.
HOWEVER… It makes me turn my head at Touch of Malice—another legacy D1 raid exotic—and question why in the world it has rapid hit as its catalyst. The reload speed boost was and still is negligible on a technically-infinite-magazine gun, and the stability boost is okay. Keep in mind, EVERY OTHER legacy raid exotic from D1 has a very unique, very strong catalyst.
Why not give it the same treatment? Even a unique version of rapid hit that gives stat boosts depending on the stacks of Charged with Blight would be better than what it is now. But, I’m more than open to considering a different catalyst identity altogether, just like Necrochasm.

It’s already got the three kills does health regen so I reckon one for all would pair really nicely

Should have high impact reserves and just say -blam!- it we ball dmg

Edited by Hawpy: 10/26/2023 5:33:50 PMI love Touch of Malice and would never be opposed to a buff, but I would suspect that it has Rapid Hit rather than a curated perk because it has more effects at base than the other reprised Raid weapons do. Excluding the Catalysts: Vex Mythoclast - Linear Fusion charge mode, its other perk is literally "this gun shoots" Necrochasm - Cursed Thrall Explosions that can trigger auto-reload, boosted RoF and stats Touch of Malice - infinite magazine with large damage boost that requires no kills, health regen after killing groups or majors, Blight charge shot that applies Arc Blind (stunning Unstoppable Champions) and debuffs enemies to take 50% more damage from all Weapons of Sorrow Rapid Hit is a solid perk, the benefits are appreciable and I believe the extra Stability helps combat the flinch from the self-damage, but the gun performs well enough on its own that it doesn't really need anything else. Eye of the Storm would be a call back to its original D1 perks, but not really offer much; with how it works now, Under Pressure would be a better fit in that regard. Personally, I don't think something like Kinetic Tremors thematically fits, and Vorpal might make it too good by primary weapon standards. When you realise just how many perks revolve around ammo and reloads, neither of which it has to concern itself with, the options are a lot more limited. As a side note, Necrochasm does have a Weapons of Sorrow interaction like Touch of Malice, but it's just not nearly as good. It will cause the Cursed Thrall explosion on body shot kills against enemies debuffed by a Weapon of Sorrow. The explosion applies a small amount of poison, which is why it will chain and that's great within the context of one person using Necrochasm, but how often are you shooting at basic enemies that were poisoned by, say, Thorn or Osteo Striga? I think Necrotic Grips count too, but it's not a huge addition.

4 RepliesToM is just a bad weapon. What it should have is a better form of Unrelenting.

Anything on necro>outlaw

Because Touch of Malice has way more going on and just recently got buffed. What is wrong with you? Not every catalyst needs to do something insane.

1 ReplyAny gun that hurts the player to the point of making them oneshot will forever be garbage unless it’s blatantly overpowered

8 RepliesThe problem with reworking ToM's catalyst, is that almost nothing could fit into it. By design, ToM was originally supposed to be that glass cannon, then they toned it down as they seen that people weren't using it because of this reason. Rapid hit which gives extra stability on precision hits (which is needed because of the screen shake) is honestly just icing on the cake as Charged With Blight gives it the extra competitive edge that it's predecessor couldn't have back in D1. The only logical answer is Rapid Hit for the Catalyst as nothing else makes sense.

I think it's because touch of malice is already innately more unique than them so a unique catalyst isn't all that necessary. Vex mythoclast is just an auto rifle until you build up it's linear. Necrochasm just shoots faster...touch of malice has infinite ammo that deals increased damage and drains your health...while also having an alternate fire taken blast.

The unique function is just built into the gun with the blights rather than in the catalyst that just provides a general performance boost, much like Vex Mythoclast. Granted, Vex's catalyst is better at it's job since it is a custom-tuned stat and damage buff while Touch just gets an additional perk. Honestly, instead of rapid hit the bonus perk should just be eye of the storm or maybe zen moment.

Yeah, rapid hit is a terrible catalyst for ToM.
