One of the biggest complaints that my friends and I have is that very often something will get nerfed because it’s “too strong” in PvP but the changes then impact how that is used in a range of PvE content.
It is incredibly irritating to feel as if my exotic or ability is now useless in higher end PvE because someone was abusing it on a crucible map.
The best solution for this is already slightly in place with different damage values and damaging tuning for guns in PvP. But why not take it the next step further and have two sandboxes for almost all aspects of your build.
I’m not saying that weapon traits/perks need to behave differently but why can’t ability cooldowns and exotic buffs have different scalings within PvP?
I.E. titan barricade felt great in PvE and kept us alive many times in tight situations because it was relatively frequently. But then because it was too strong in PvP it got nerfed dramatically and now feels like it’s never up when ya need it. Wouldn’t it be more balanced to have changed the cd in crucible alone instead of across the board?

I literally had a friend quit the company because they're too lazy to use the dual sandboxes. He didn't want to be associated with "liars and thieves". It's amazing to me how lazy they are when one of their "high points" was the announcement of having seperate sandboxes for pvp and pve but they flatly refuse to take the time to utilize them properly. Alas, it's what we now expect from Bungo.

6 RepliesThe best solution is taking everything away when we go into pvp and only using khvostov no other guns or exotics allowed. Armor gets defaulted to the D2 release “parade” guardian armor with no stats.

1 ReplyI remember when I asked for a pvp only subclass and separate pve from pvp. Even have pve exotics only. I said it like a week after D1 launched. Guess what the community on this forum hated that idea and most today still hate the idea.

2 RepliesI agree with OP. As a Titan main, I am tired of my PVE play being so wrapped up in PVP balancing. A game mode I rarely touch. The past couple of nerfs for Titan (class and exotic armor) have been solely for PVP balancing. Citans Ramparts, Heart of Inmost Light, Cuirass of the Falling Start, Thundercrash, Barricades, Storm Grenades to just name a few. If there was more to the rationalization of these needs beyond just balancing the PvP meta.

3 RepliesDon’t you remember they sold the “ we will be able to do micro adjustments between pve and pvp” on the fly…. That was their reasoning behind the “new engine” and force deleting our vaults from D1 into D2… Yet again another load of …

Mate this community has been asking for this for 10 years now. It isn't happening.

Very much agree as I have been asking for this too. It requires more people/work to stay on top of tracking changes if the system is too complicated.. but that would be a great sign that D2 will continue beyond Final Shape

1 ReplyI feel like you guys (commenters) are missing the point here. I didn’t make this post to sh!t all over bungie. They made this OG post to ask what we thought could improve PvP. Clearly a lot of you agree with me but we don’t need to be so hateful they are clearly trying to do something better, thus the “PvP Strike Team”.

Bungie doesn’t understand that concept

It’s been like this from the beginning. From weapons, exotics, abilities, etc….they get nerfed due to pvp which also affects them in pve as well. Bungie has never really been able to balance between the two, the nerfs always seems to affect both pve/pvp.
