The average GM takes 25 minutes and you're guaranteed an Exotic armor piece/ascendant shard + another ascendant shard, an ugly -blam!- memento, and an Adept weapon. Trials requires you to win 7 matches without losing more than 2 if you're on your first Mercy card. This can take between 30 minutes to an hour depending on skill level. If you are able to go flawless, you are guaranteed a trials weapon, an adept trials weapon, an ascendant shard, a -blam!- -blam!- memento, and a chance for a cosmetic item. Understand, that is if everything goes smoothly, which it definitely won't. You will win 4 matches, lose 2, reset your card, and try again. You've essentially wasted all that time since the goal is to go flawless. And the loot you receive will probably be 2 trash weapons and an ascendant shard you don't need for 2 hours of work. This is bad and it's obviously bad. Going flawless should be a loot shower. You should get 2 ascendant alloys, 2 ascendant shards, an masterworked armor piece with 68 base stats, an adept weapon, and an additional weapon, the memento, and that chance for a cosmetic. When I see people go to the Lighthouse for the first time and I hear their excitement, I feel terrible. They are about to get a pittance for doing something that was excruciatingly difficult to attain for them. They deserve to see the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, not the modern version of 2 tokens and a blue.
You get rewards through the 7 matches to get the non-adepts So comparing a single GM to 7 trials games is dumb, its more like running 6 nightfalls then a 10 minute sweaty grandmaster with 1 or 2 attempts Honestly you comparing these modes like this shows how little you thought about the non-adept drops for both modes

 • the goal is going flawless and the rewards you get on the way are irrelevant. you think people are getting hype when a random purple engram drops during a GM or do you think they are there to get the adept?

Be ignorant all you want but compare the actual parts of these 2 activities that match

 • Except Trials drops on the way to Flawless can include non-adept Trials weapons or Armour. The mode has a whole armour set and six weapons in rotation alongside the one adept at the Lighthouse, as well as numerous cosmetic sets (Ghosts, Sparrows, Ships). GM Nightfalls only have the one weapon. It’s a stupid comparison unless you’re talking only about the adepts, at which point I’d say you only need to go Flawless once (7 wins before 3 losses) before every seven wins that week turns into a guaranteed Adept. No more pressure to go Flawless unless you want 2 per card.

The guy literally forgot about all of that

 • I also don’t get why the argument is time spent in Endgame should entitle you to a reward. Are we now going to begin advocating for teams that spend hours in Raids with no clear get the exotic? Or that GMs should have a built in timer that drops the adept at 60 minutes?

No one is talking about entitlement, no one is asking for handouts. The discussion was is the OP right for comparing 7 trials matches to 1 GM time wise when during those 7 games you get normal non-adept trials weapons just like you get non-adepts for not doing GMs

 • Part of OPs argument relates to wasted time regarding failed passages, hence the argument that trials matches should strive to have a 50% win chance for each player, not realising that statistically that would lower the amount of Flawless passages. I’m extrapolating that apparent demand for time to be compensated for. Although I am getting into aspects of the argument not relevant to this particular thread likely due to not being well at the time.

 • Actually no. It’s far more embarrassing. Two separate arguments in two similar topics regarding trials and my brain decided to conflate the two because I’m apparently on stupid time.
