Compared to GM Nightfalls, Trials is not very rewarding.

The average GM takes 25 minutes and you're guaranteed an Exotic armor piece/ascendant shard + another ascendant shard, an ugly -blam!- memento, and an Adept weapon. Trials requires you to win 7 matches without losing more than 2 if you're on your first Mercy card. This can take between 30 minutes to an hour depending on skill level. If you are able to go flawless, you are guaranteed a trials weapon, an adept trials weapon, an ascendant shard, a -blam!- -blam!- memento, and a chance for a cosmetic item. Understand, that is if everything goes smoothly, which it definitely won't. You will win 4 matches, lose 2, reset your card, and try again. You've essentially wasted all that time since the goal is to go flawless. And the loot you receive will probably be 2 trash weapons and an ascendant shard you don't need for 2 hours of work. This is bad and it's obviously bad. Going flawless should be a loot shower. You should get 2 ascendant alloys, 2 ascendant shards, an masterworked armor piece with 68 base stats, an adept weapon, and an additional weapon, the memento, and that chance for a cosmetic. When I see people go to the Lighthouse for the first time and I hear their excitement, I feel terrible. They are about to get a pittance for doing something that was excruciatingly difficult to attain for them. They deserve to see the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, not the modern version of 2 tokens and a blue.

  • Going flawless should probably happen less for some people and possibly give more loot each time for everyone. If there's going to be a lot of talk about what's fair, the dozens of flawlesses, or even really more than like 5 probably shouldn't be a regular thing for anyone. And for anyone should really mean everyone because the game works better overall when its really everyone and not some people that get to jack the internet up that everyone else is supposed to ignore. Speaking of which I have yet to see how fireteam matchmaking hasn't been an overall improvement, even if there are forms of matchmaking where I score more more regularly. But the overall idea that going flawless once should feel more special than it does now is a good one. Not sure about the zone mode or why people aren't or haven't said they're happy with the non adept drops.
