Title. Shards were the last currency that we could really grind and stockpile. Which is an element I actually enjoy because being able to stockpile currently in content droughts actually allows me to side step doing it later when there's actually new items and content to grind.
Just as an example grinding Iron Banner for a weapon roll. We get a new weapon and I'm hitting back match after match but now I have to go grind public events because Legacy weapons cost 15k Glimmer? No that's not good. Personally I'm not a fan of content loops all I want to do is keep running the same content back, keep in my rhythm, until I get my drop
Edit: I just seen that Ritual and Season focusing is getting increased to 3 engrams while Legacy Trials and Nightfall weapons are getting increased to 5 engrams. Why are you trying to further increase grind times when it's already at an all time high. There are plenty of things I actually still need to grind that I'm procrastinating on because the projected grind times to get my god roll are too d*mn long, 1 in 40,500 drop chance. I've given feedback like 100 times that the grind and RNG needs to be cut back not increased. Destiny doesn't need more grind

2 RepliesIncreasing the cap is exactly what they don't want to do. That's why they are removing them.
-
They should definitely raise the cap if possible. I'm assuming they can. I would bet my house against ever having uncapped glimmer though, not that I wouldn't welcome it.
-
7 RepliesA big reason why legendary shards are going away is because they're uncapped. It becomes a nightmare to balance your economy when some players have tens or even hundreds of thousands of shards and newer players only have hundreds. Removing the Glimmer cap would just recreate the same problem they're trying to fix.
-
Nah they will remove glimmer next so they can pandering to those who are complaining on having way too many of them Destiny new moto Destined to nerf and sunset our game If this company was under embracer then it would have been shut down ages ago.

The worst part is that they see these comments but they just laugh at our faces. Well its all good there are plenty of other games to play.

Bungie upset the whole community with a ridiculous State of the Game, Joe goes online with a puppy dog face and says "we're sorry" South Park style, The Final Shape reveal reveals very little, but apparently sells enough preorders that Bungie feels comfortable screwing over the community again. Bungie has pure gold with just their drama. They don't even need a game at this point.
-
The funnier part of this is bungie stating they won't be adding any new currency or increasing any costs to make up for removing shards.. while increasing the amount of engrams required. Hey bungie, that's an increase in cost.

1 ReplyEdited by Lore Oradon: 9/15/2023 5:56:49 PMHave you ever heard of a "Quiet Firing"? In this instant, i believe its a "Quite Quitting". Or This could be that the Apathy is really freaking Bungie out, so they thought, how can we Tick of the Community? Oh i know, lets Yeet LS into the Void, that will get people talking. IMHO, Bungie has been making more Bad choices, and it really seems Destiny 2 is going down, because Bungie isnt getting Enough "Love" so the Hate is easier to Get, but only last for so Long. Just my 2 Cents.

I can easily burn through the glimmer cap re-rolling garbage-rolled crucible bounties. Legendary shards have been my savior this season and I've been forced to burn through 2,200 between focusing and crucible bounties. If they make it painful to play, I will stop playing. We have a vast array of good games coming out this season. CS 2 comes out soon for shooter pvp. AC6 offers cool zoomy robots.

1 ReplyThey need to uncap glimmer otherwise 100s of hours of currency are just going to be thanos snapped away. Its a spit in the face to everyone who has invested time over the seasons earning those shards.
-
13 RepliesThey're also trying to lead more lambs to the slaughter in trials.
-
3 RepliesWhat useful things can the Shards be converted to before they remove them?
-
1 ReplyIt doesn't really seem like increasing grind times as much as it's decreasing "wastefulness" You're not supposed to want to grind to the equivalent of what legendary shards used to be. Hopefully new also means better and more streamlined. It's hard with something like this to make it so it's easy for new people and somehow going to be really ha d for vets or people that play a lot. It's going to be interesting to see how people that pay a lot of attention to their currencies react to the new system. Some of the stuff like glimmer cap also doesn't seem totally set in stone like this is exactly what it's going to be like this time next year.

3 RepliesWhat if they increase the engram drop rate?
-
Remember d1 resource/ mat farming? You will soon.
-
17 RepliesUse your shards to buy Phantasmal Fragments on the moon. They will then turn back into glimmer at Rahool. Then you won't have to to public events or whatever to raise funds.
-
I'll play as long as I have glimmer, and I will definitely not farm glimmer. Haven't preordered a thing, so they can do whatever they want. So can I...
-
Yeah, there's no reason for the engram cost increase. I'd rather they decrease the frequency they drop and lower the cost where applicable. Just head scratching decisions all around.
-
The engram cost increase is HUGE. When you consider the extremely deep perk pool for these weapons, getting what you want is gonna require so much playlist grinding. Maybe bungie thought we weren't going to notice that. Hopefully they'll respond to the critique (they have for focusing on the past).
-
"We" ?
-
I don't really use any of them, have 75,000 shards and probably 99 engrams at every vender. If I don't have glimmer I don't buy bounties. I don't grind, I play what I want when I want.
-
2 RepliesThey better increase those drop rates for engrams as well, as they just jacked those prices through the roof. Back to their misguided attempt at forcing people into "meaningful choices" when the only choice people will actually make is to not engage with the economy/game.

Big vanguard is trying to implement a social glimmer system by tanking the LCSC (Last City Shard Currency.) Invest in exotics now so when our society collapses you will have something of value to trade for food, water, and other needs. Stay safe out there guys we’re in for some hard times. -
They want you to be thankful for xp gain weeks.
