Best PVP Primary?
I personally like HCs in this meta, but I'm curious what the consensus is.

6 RepliesEdited by BabyMoonArt: 9/13/2023 8:38:30 PMWhenever I play (during seasonal events only) I get oneshotted by two things: Hand Cannons and Bows. The Wish Ender I think is the biggest one. If Bows and Hand cannons are gonna be oneshotting guardians in PVP like that, make them special ammo.

Mid range got a nice balance shift this season, but close range primary meta is still almost exclusively SMGs. Sidearm buffs last year were nowhere near as bad as people made it out to be and should not have been walked back.

I have been solely using a smite of Merain pulse with moving target, and I love the damn thing. It kicks -blam!-.

I prefer an adaptive pulse with head seeker. But the Ammit is quite obviously the number 1 primary now.

2 RepliesRapid fire pulse rifles are my favorite right now. Get beamed by HCs and ARs but they are fun to use.

For quickplay it's auto rifles in the moment. For trials it's either smg's or hand cannons, maybe some pulse rifles, but there is pretty much no point to use them, since they have similar or lower range than hand cannons

2 RepliesPersonally I've always loved SMGs. I'll pair one with either a scout rifle or a pulse. I'll use an auto or hand cannon occasionally. Very rarely use a sniper or shotgun. Loved sidearms back in D1 before everyone started using them but not now.

1 ReplyDepends what the scope of the question is. Within this season, it's probably Auto Rifles at the top, but Hand Cannons are by no means bad. Over the course of the game's lifespan, Hand Cannons have absolutely been the best; they may not have always been top, but they have never been bad or forced out of the meta, like many other weapons have.

2 RepliesI'm more of a Scout Rifle/Bow user here but I hardly use any other weapons. Not a fan of sidearms or hand cannons tho. Can't even get good shots in any of them except for scouts and bows.

2 RepliesIt depends on game mode, and meta does change, presently SMGs are in a very strong place and TBH most aggressives out perform most 600/720 autos even at range. Sidearms are definitely strong. Hand cannons with P2p peek shooting is always a thing, and a couple hand cannons have consistently been top 10 meta for the better part of the game. Pulses are in a good spot right now and I think generally perform the most consistent for engagement ranges of most maps making them a more viable and solid option compared to scouts which is what I main. For the ranges 200s-260 rpm scouts are generally just better than 150-180 rpm. Bows aren’t used as much but in the right hands falls back into P2p peak shoot territory.

Not everyone is as good with hand cannons for whatever reason so they probably aren't the "best" right now. They have been in the past though. Almost all of those weapons has been the "best" at one time or another or had a weapon in their group that was probably the best weapon overall. EDIT: I didn't vote until after I typed this and I can't believe that pulse rifles are considered the best right now. A bunch of top tier players must have voted on this, in their infinite wisdom...

For me/ my skill and play style: Pulse Rifles. IMO, I feel like most exotics work well and fairly similar. Like there’s not a drop off between different models. There’s even some decent legendary ones as well. Compared to say, HC, where there’s a wider gap between each model. Like they all don’t work the same. Anyways, that’s just my preference.
