Perfect fictional world yet no actual stories

This one is going to be a little more personal. The fictional Destiny world is one of the best written fictional worlds I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. It seamlessly integrates sci-fi and fantasy in a grim-dark post apocalyptic world. When I was a kid and first played through the original game and read the grimoires it was certainly an incredible experience. It got me into creative writing to begin with. It was my dream to be a writer for Destiny even though I lived on the other side of the planet. Fast forward to now and I’m studying creative writing at university and I can’t help but be perhaps slightly disappointed by the lack of narrative from the game now. The stories being told are just so isolated and simple. This season has been an improvement for sure but I just feel that there was so much that could have been done; to build up meaningful stories and characters; that are actively presented to the player. For example let’s take Taniks. He has an incredible story behind him. He came back in Deep Stone Crypt. In Deep Stone Crypt he just doesn’t really do anything. He gets a bit grumpy, becomes a paraplegic and dies. It just feels like a little bit of lazy writing. What if instead we go out for the final encounter of Deep Stone and instead he is controlling the Heavy Shank to fight us. In the end we destroy it but he makes a speech, in the human language as he has taken the time to learn our ways. He tells us that he has what he needs and declares that like all others that work for our vanguard, he will kill us when the time is right. He scuttles away. You could then have him appear on Neptune. He has taken a leaf out of Eramis’s book and has taken control of a darkness power of his own, strand. We fight him during the radial mast mission: he crashes through the roof while Rowan is trying to hold the mast back stopping us from saving Rowan, and thus making the player hate Taniks. During the Calus fight when Calus enters his final phase we in fact lose our powers, Calus walks to us and prepares to kill us. All of a sudden Taniks swoops in and uses strand to strangle Calus to death. He looks at us and tells us to get stronger so that when the time comes you can give him a fight that will go down in both human and Eliksni history books, before leaving through the entrance Calus made. This is just 1 little thing I put together in around 10 minutes. There are hundreds of things that could be done just to spice up the plot a little and actually utilise the incredible world that has been written. Right now it almost feels like the writing team has been handed a pristine burger made by Gordon Ramsey but instead they have decide to go cook their own meal which is ok but it is kinda just a patty between two buns.
